This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity, enabling students to engage with the target vocabulary, and also developing Spanish language skills in general. The activity is really versatile too, useful in a range of learning contexts such as starters, finishers, refreshers and sub / cover lessons. Students are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching to scrambled letters and number sequence questions, featuring Spanish mathematical language. There is a single word search per page, portrait format, with a corresponding answer grid, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. There is a number reference list too. Grids 1 & 2 feature number words as prompts. Students look for them in the grid, and also write the corresponding number in digits for additional consolidation. Grids 3, 4 & 5 feature numbers in digits as prompts, and students look for the corresponding words in the grids. They also write the number out in full for additional consolidation. Grid 6 has Spanish numbers with missing letters. Students fill in the missing letters, write the number out in full, then look for it in the grid. Grid 7 has scrambled words as prompts, students work out what the numbers are and look for them in the grid, also writing the number in digits. Grids 8 & 9 have number calculations as prompts, with students working out the response before they can look for the correct number in the grid, and also writing the number in digits. Grid 10 has a range of questions and number sequences as prompts - again, students have to work out the correct response before they can look for the corresponding word in the grid. A whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in French. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents, such as the silent x on the plural of cheval : chevaux, as this is really useful at consolidating accurate French pronunciation. There are 25 animals featured in the game: bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle All the animals may not be in your immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply learning or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practising particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too. The images are essentially visual prompts and clues, helping students infer meaning from context. The longer and more complex sentences really help students focus on reading out loud accurately, and think more carefully about language, and how to pronounce it correctly. There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time, and a successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary. Laminate the cards if you can: they're more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years, so you'll be able to use them over and over again. An instant introduction to the scope of the Francophone world, promoting French as a living language, spoken widely across the world, and featuring in the everyday life of the learning environment. The banners feature ***41 countries / territories where French is an official languag***e as well as regions and territories where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Vietnam. Each banner shows the country and capital city in French, and its national flag. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the banners definitely help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of the French-speaking world. I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. I use the banners to get students talking in French class too during Talk Time for example - quick questions such as Vrai ou faux ? Québec est la capitale du Canada ? or Libreville est la capitale de quel pays ? are really useful to encouraging students to speak in French. Each individual banner has a small tag which I use to hang with a clip from a ‘washing line’ across the classroom and other learning areas. I always laminate my classroom decor banners, as they display more successfully, and remain in excellent condition for years, so it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters really help students develop their general knowledge and understanding of European geography. There is a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, and also shown some countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to Europe or to Asia. There are also two posters for some countries, such as France, officially known as République Française - you can choose either that, or the more frequently-used la France to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity. They’re ideal for the annual Europe Day celebration, and The European Day of Languages, as well as an all year round learning display. Ask questions such as ***Quelle est la capitale de… ?***, or Oui ou non ? Madrid est la capitale de Portugal ? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the posters as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill in French class, so getting the most from classroom display to encourage students to speak is really important, as they’re a great tool for encouraging students to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their French learning. There are two backgrounds to choose from - European map or plain. Laminate if possible, as they will display really well, and remain in excellent condition for years. The Lively Learning Classroom has a wide range of French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON VOYAGE !

The set features a range of high-frequency French Christmas vocabulary, useful either as an introduction to, or consolidation of, the target language. Students can also develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their general French language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions are differentiated, and are aimed at advanced beginner French students. They address not only French numbers 0-31, French mathematical language and French Christmas vocabulary, but also a broad range of grammar points, such as definite and indefinite articles, question formats and gender agreement in French. All the questions are in French, with the Christmas images providing students with visual learning support. The Christmas vocabulary and images help to develop students’ awareness of a range of Christmas traditions and figures in French-speaking countries, such as galette des Rois and Père Fouettard, which is translated as Father Fouettard, rather than ‘Whipping Father’, and are also really useful for stimulating discussion about French Christmas practices and customs. This is a successful alternative to more standard presentations and worksheets. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: = 48 differentiated question cards - laminate if possible, as they will remain in excellent condition for years = answer key - this can also be laminated, and shared among groups of students for class work = answer recording sheet - simply print as many as your particular groups need.
