A proposal for one of the country’s largest multi-academy trusts to take on six schools from a coastal trust has been referred to ministers.
Delta Academies Trust had been lined up to take on all six schools run by the Coast and Vale Learning Trust in North Yorkshire.
Delta CEO Paul Tarn has been the chief executive of Coast and Vale Learning Trust since April last year, working across both trusts.
However, a decision on the schools transferring to Delta has now been referred up to the education secretary, the latest in December show
The minutes do not provide any information about why the decision was referred to ministers.

The proposal was for Scalby School, Newby and Scalby Primary, Friarage Community Primary, Lady Lumley’s School, Filey School and the Scarborough University Technical College to be transferred to Delta.
The minutes of the meeting show that a final decision on all these schools has been sent to ministers.
Delta currently has 57 schools and the proposal would have taken it to 63.
The multi-academy trust was originally launched as School Partnership Trust Academies (SPTA) and was renamed Delta in 2016 after Mr Tarn took over as CEO.
Mr Tarn took the role of CEO at the Coast and Vale Learning Trust last year following the retirement of its previous leader, Brian Crosby.
In a letter to parents in April of last year, Mr Tarn said: “The trustees of both organisations have agreed to work together in collaboration, with a view to improving educational outcomes in the Coast and Vale area and more widely across the region; an area which holds a special place in my heart.”
The trust has been contacted for comment.
