The Olympus Academy Trust and Futura Learning Partnership are applying to merge to become a 35-school trust.
The plans are due to be discussed at the on 23 June.
Under the proposals, The Olympus Academy Trust, which has nine schools in South Gloucestershire, would merge with Futura Learning Partnership (26 schools) and form a new trust called Halcyon.
Tes first revealed the plans earlier this year, but an official decision is now slated to be made by regional director Lucy Livings.
“We are pleased and relieved that it’s on the agenda as it feels that we were waiting for a while,” said Dave Baker, CEO of Olympus.
He added that stakeholders were “anxious about the uncertainty” but welcomed the “good news”.
The regional advisory board could decide to approve the merger as it is currently proposed, or to apply certain conditions.
It comes at a time when a wave of mergers are being discussed in the sector. Last month, two South East trusts announced that they will be merging to create a 25-school trust.
Ministers also recently approved proposals for six Catholic academy trusts in the West Midlands to merge into one 63-school multi-academy trust.
