This resource is a 3 lesson unit perfect for using to teach your key stage 2 class about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. The pdf plans are very detailed (11 pages plus 7 pages of resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year. Lesson 1 teaches children about the story of Queen Esther and includes a drama hot seating activity. Lesson 2 teaches children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim and includes a letter writing activity. Lesson 3 consolidates the previous lessons and includes two art activities based on Purim celebrations. Each lesson starts with an introductory session and finishes with a plenary. This resource includes an assembly plan and 19 slide PowerPoint for you to use for Women’s History Month or International Women’s Day on 8th March. You can use it without any further preparation. The assembly is suitable to use with KS2 or secondary aged children. The slideshow provides the opportunity to discuss why we might focus on women’s history, before moving on to give details on how women’s circumstances changed from ancient times to today. There are 10 slides which outline key achievements of 10 different women, from Marie Curie to J K Rowling. The plan (pdf) gives details about how to use the slideshow. I like to lead assemblies that are interactive and relevant to the children’s lives, so the plan gives plenty of opportunity for children to discuss ideas, give feedback and reflect. This resource is a fictional comprehension activity for year 1. It tells the traditional tale of Beauty and the Beast and includes 3 differentiated levels. There is a colour and black & white version of each level. Each level contains three short pieces of text with words that can be sounded out. There are three trickier words which have pictures to help children work out what they say. Each passage is followed by 5 simple questions. There is also a PowerPoint included in the pack containing a slide for each text from the middle ability so that you can go through the comprehensions before the children complete them. This is a 5 lesson French unit for beginners, perfect for using with KS2. It teaches children about France and French speaking regions. The lessons are: Lesson 1 - French Countryside - The children learn the vocabulary for places in the countryside in French e.g. lavender fields, rivers and mountains. Lesson 2 - Regions of France - The children learn the vocabulary to describe different regions of France e.g. In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, there are mountains. The lesson teaches children sentences to describe seven different regions. Lesson 3 - French Speaking Countries - The children learn the vocabulary to describe the landscape in different French speaking countries e.g. In Guadeloupe there are beaches. The children are taught sentences to describe eight French speaking countries or regions.
