This is an assembly for you to use to teach children about Lent. It is suitable for ages 5-11. The theme is ‘giving something up’ and it is based on a Bible story about Jesus.
The 4 page pdf assembly plan is highly interactive, with plenty of opportunity for volunteers to take part or give answers or ideas. It includes questions for you to ask the children with answers. There is an introduction, a discussion, a Bible story, a further discussion and a final prayer/reflection.
I have also included a 19 slide PowerPoint presentation which gives details about Lent, includes the bible story from the plan and questions for discussion. (This is not editable. Click ‘Read Only’ to open the presentation.)
You can use the plan on its own or alongside the presentation. No other preparation is needed.
