A collection of 3 practice SATs SPaG papers for year 6. All three papers are based on a past SPaG paper 1. Each practice paper contains 50 questions focussing on a range of punctuation and grammar. Answers are also included. This includes tenses, sentence types, semi-colons, colons, brackets, hyphens, commas, subordinate clauses, prefixes, word classes, apostrophes, pronouns, synonyms and antonyms. The questions are formatted in the same way as the SATs papers, so the children are asked to circle, tick, fill in the missing gap and write full sentences. A collection of 10 worksheets, 10 activities and 10 starters (in the form of a PowerPoint) to use with your year 6 class in the run-up to SATs. The ten topics covered are those that my class were finding difficult, so I decided they needed a bit of extra revision! The worksheets use questions that are based on the SATs SPaG papers, plus a few extras. The activities are perfect for group work and prepare your class for SATs in a more interactive way. The slideshow can be used for fillers, starters or plenaries. You can also put the three together to make 30 minute lessons on these tricky topics! For example, start with the slideshow to recap prepositions, before splitting your class into groups to do the interactive activity. I have used this with my class to revise difficult topics, for fillers and in a quiz format. Revise one question a day or use for one long SPaG lesson. This resource includes an assembly plan and 16 slide PowerPoint for Black History Month in October. It is suitable to use with KS2 or secondary aged children. The slideshow gives the opportunity to discuss why we might focus on black history for a month. It covers prehistory, ancient civilizations and 18th and 19th century Britain. There are 6 slides which outline key achievements of 6 different people of African or Caribbean descent, who have achieved great things in the past few centuries from Nelson Mandela to Mo Farah. (Please note no photos of the people are included owing to copyright restrictions). The plan gives details about how to use the slideshow. I like to lead assemblies that are interactive and relevant to the children’s lives, so the plan gives plenty of opportunities for children to discuss ideas, give feedback and reflect.

This resource is a set of 5 Art lessons based around the theme of the sea, oceans and water for KS1. The key skills that are taught include creating different tones and shades with paint and pencil, using shapes, patterns and lines and experimenting with different materials. There are 3 different artists used as inspiration, all of whom have painted the sea or water using very different techniques. The children have the opportunity to work alone for 4 lessons and part of a collaborative group project for the final lesson. They have lots of opportunity to choose what materials they work with. The 15 page pdf lesson plans are very detailed and include a list of any resources you will need to get out of the cupboard. There are also details of curriculum links and examples of work from my classes. I have included the simple 7 slide PowerPoint I used for the series of lessons, which contains examples of the artists’ work around which the lessons are based. I hope you enjoy the lessons! This resource is a 3 lesson unit on Pentecost, suitable for using with key stage 2. There are details of activities and differentiation for each lesson. The first lesson involves children writing a poem, the second focusses on drama and the third allows for a more detailed piece of reflective writing, so it is perfect for extending literacy skills into RE. There are three powerpoints included in the price. One tells the story of Pentecost and the other two help with the introduction for Lessons 1 and 3 . This resource is a non-fiction comprehension booklet for year 2. It is all about habitats and covers what a habitat is, followed by a short look at deserts, oceans, cities, rainforests, woodlands and seashores. It is split into 3 differentiated levels. There is a different booklet for each level. Each booklet contains a title page with helpful words, followed by four pages of pictures with short written extracts to read and 2-3 questions per page. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘how,’ ‘which’ and ‘why’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. Answers are also included. A selection of three phonics practice papers to use with your year 1 class in preparation for the screening test. The papers contain original content, but are all based entirely on past papers, progressing from simple cvc phase 3 words to more complex phase 5 words. There is an accompanying PowerPoint presentation with each paper, so that you can choose to work with the whole class or individuals. An answer sheet and tick sheet are also included. These Year 2 SATs style subtraction revision questions are split into 3 differentiated levels. Each level contains 20 reasoning and 10 arithmetic problems with answers. The higher level (Super Super Challenge) contains questions covering the Year 2 and Year 3 curriculum and is in the style of a SATs paper. The intermediate level (Super Challenge) contains questions covering the Year 2 curriculum and is based on past SATs papers. The lower level (Challenge) contains questions covering the Year 1 curriculum. No further preparation required. This is a plan and resources for a French lesson to use with KS2. It involves children learning how to talk about the seasons in French. The plan gives details of a starter, how to teach the vocabulary, a listening game, a reading game, a reading worksheet and a plenary. This is a presentation on the explorer, Christopher Columbus, who discovered the ‘New World.’ Use it as part of a lesson or for an assembly. The presentation covers Christopher’s childhood, his early sailing years, his voyage and his discovery. The last part of the presentation includes some interesting questions to provoke discussion or for further exploration. Columbus is one of the key historical figures mentioned in the KS1 curriculum, so this presentation would be perfect for introducing the explorer.

This resource contains 6 comprehension activities suitable for using with year 1 or lower ability year 2. The theme in this pack is ‘Materials.’ The following materials from the year 1 science curriculum are included: (1) Wood (2) Plastic (3) Glass (4) Metal (5) Water (6) Rock Each comprehension contains a short piece of text with words that can be sounded out. There are three keywords included with picture clues. The text is followed by 5 simple questions. There is also a PowerPoint included in the pack containing a slide for each text so that you can go through the comprehensions before the children complete them. A set of 10 PowerPoint activities to help prepare your class for the Phonics Screening Check. Each PowerPoint includes 40 words, one on each slide. 20 words are pretend or ‘alien’ words and 20 are real words. They are organised in the same way as the screening check, starting with four simple phase 2 words, before moving on to phase 3, 4 and 5 and concluding with more complex words. Get your class to call out together or choose targeted children to decode the words.
