A collection of 3 practice SATs SPaG papers for year 6. All three papers are based on a past SPaG paper 1. Each practice paper contains 50 questions focussing on a range of punctuation and grammar. Answers are also included. This includes tenses, sentence types, semi-colons, colons, brackets, hyphens, commas, subordinate clauses, prefixes, word classes, apostrophes, pronouns, synonyms and antonyms. The questions are formatted in the same way as the SATs papers, so the children are asked to circle, tick, fill in the missing gap and write full sentences. A collection of 10 worksheets, 10 activities and 10 starters (in the form of a PowerPoint) to use with your year 6 class in the run-up to SATs. The ten topics covered are those that my class were finding difficult, so I decided they needed a bit of extra revision! The worksheets use questions that are based on the SATs SPaG papers, plus a few extras. The activities are perfect for group work and prepare your class for SATs in a more interactive way. The slideshow can be used for fillers, starters or plenaries. You can also put the three together to make 30 minute lessons on these tricky topics! I have used this with my class to revise difficult topics, for fillers and in a quiz format. Revise one question a day or use for one long SPaG lesson. This resource is a 3 lesson unit on Pentecost, suitable for using with key stage 2. There are details of activities and differentiation for each lesson. The first lesson involves children writing a poem, the second focusses on drama and the third allows for a more detailed piece of reflective writing, so it is perfect for extending literacy skills into RE. There are three powerpoints included in the price. One tells the story of Pentecost and the other two help with the introduction for Lessons 1 and 3 . This resource is a non-fiction comprehension booklet for year 2. It is all about habitats and covers what a habitat is, followed by a short look at deserts, oceans, cities, rainforests, woodlands and seashores. It is split into 3 differentiated levels. There is a different booklet for each level. Each booklet contains a title page with helpful words, followed by four pages of pictures with short written extracts to read and 2-3 questions per page. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘how,’ ‘which’ and ‘why’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. Answers are also included. A selection of three phonics practice papers to use with your year 1 class in preparation for the screening test. The papers contain original content, but are all based entirely on past papers, progressing from simple cvc phase 3 words to more complex phase 5 words. A set of 10 PowerPoint activities to help prepare your class for the Phonics Screening Check. Each PowerPoint includes 40 words, one on each slide. 20 words are pretend or ‘alien’ words and 20 are real words. They are organised in the same way as the screening check, starting with four simple phase 2 words, before moving on to phase 3, 4 and 5 and concluding with more complex words. Get your class to call out together or choose targeted children to decode the words. Fit in during 5 minute gaps or use during a phonics lesson to make sure your entire class are prepared for the screening check!

This resource is an interactive lesson aimed at whole class or group phonics. It is a powerpoint presentation that allows children to revise phonemes and learn or revisit the sound ‘ow.’ It takes 15-20 minutes. This resource is a comprehension booklet aimed at Lower Key Stage 2 (7-9 yrs). It is based around an entertaining, rhyming poem called ‘Around the World this Summer’ and would be perfect to use before or after the summer holidays as a springboard to children discussing their own holidays or writing their own poetry. There are three differentiated booklets. The higher booklet has two pages of text for the children to read before they complete a range of questions based on a mixture of the KS1 and KS2 SATs. This resource is designed to use with year 2 children in preparation for the SPaG SATs. The activity allows children to practise spelling problems; in particular suffixes, contractions and plurals, all of which came up in past SPaG papers. There are 3 different activities, all based on the SATs questions: One activity asks children to add the correct suffix within a sentence. There are 6 questions on 3 different sheets. This is a presentation on the poet, musician and writer, Benjamin Zephaniah. Use it as part of a lesson or for an assembly for KS2, KS3 or KS4. The presentation covers his childhood, early success, world tours, music, children’s poetry and current work. The last part of the presentation includes some interesting questions to provoke discussion and a list of some of his books.
