This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. It is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper and includes 3 differentiated levels.
There are a range of 'what,' 'when,' 'where' and 'why' questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets, with four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 2-3 questions per page. Answers are included.
This comprehension is all about Emily Davison. Perfect to use as part of a KS1 history topic or just for general interest for comprehension practice.

The Emmeline Pankhurst presentation covers Emmeline’s childhood, the suffrage movement, her protests, her imprisonment and the results of the movement.
The presentation on Emily Davison covers Emily’s education, before moving onto her actions in the suffragette movement, her imprisonment and force feeding and finally her death and legacy.
The presentation on Millicent Fawcett covers her childhood, early political involvement and the successful suffrage movement.

This resource is a comprehension booklet aimed at Lower Key Stage 2 (7-9 yrs). It is a playscript adapted from Shakespeare’s play of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The story is a romance and comedy and covers the themes of love, mistaken identities and magic. The story has been adapted so that is is suitable for ages 7-9.

This resource is a 3 lesson unit on Pentecost, perfect for using with your key stage 1 class.
The first lesson involves the children creating a Pentecost hat. They take part in an interactive starter, watch and discuss a PowerPoint of the Pentecost story, gather vocabulary before completing their art and finish with a literacy activity. I have included photos in the PowerPoint of a Pentecost hat that I made.
The second lesson focuses on drama. There is a starter, paired drama task and a whole class drama plenary.
The third lesson allows for a more detailed piece of writing, so it is perfect for extending literacy skills into RE. The starter is an art activity. This is followed by a PowerPoint to introduce the lesson, the written task and a plenary involving a paired drama activity.
There are learning objectives and opportunities for you to differentiate each lesson.
All you need to prepare is some card and scissors for the art activity in lesson 1. Everything else for the 3 lessons is included for you in the zip file:

This is a plan for an assembly on Epiphany (when the Wise Men visit Jesus), with the theme of beliefs and differences. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! There is an accompanying PowerPoint that tells the story of Epiphany.
I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. This assembly involves the teacher recounting an anecdote which is then linked to the Wise Men visiting Jesus. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with.
