Ideal multi-skill language learning activity for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills for German language students. There are 100 grids in total, in both colour & BW. The colour can prove expensive to prep - laminating these for repeated use with wipe-free pens keeps longer-term prep time and expense to a minimum. Younger students enjoy BW grids, taking some additional time to colour them in themselves, which works well as vocabulary consolidation. The German Christmas images and words stimulate discussion about Christmas in Germany and other German-speaking countries. The games are designed for players to cross off all the words or pictures on their grids in order to win the game. You can give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students then select grids randomly from the bowl. For additional challenge, students can play any number of grids in a single game. This set comprises the following non-editable files: = 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) = 40 words & pictures bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). Colour & BW = 10 picture-only 30-square grids (A4 portrait format) Colour & B&W = 10 words & pictures 30-square grids (A4 portrait format) Colour & B&W = calling card, featuring 32 German Christmas words. Print or photocopy double-sided to minimise prep. There are 8 check columns per page, so that you can really get the most from each card - call the words randomly, ticking them off as you go, so that you can check the winning grids. You can vary the use of the definite and indefinite article, singular or plural. Students should also be the bingo caller, rather than always the teacher. = calling card, featuring the English translation of the German Christmas words. This is great for additional challenge - students hear the English word, and translate it quickly, looking for it in writing in German in the grid The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES GCSE FRENCH KS4 FRENCH KS3 FRENCH FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES ACTIVITIES LES PAYS FRANCOPHONES Files are non-editable in a zipped format. They are copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Mots cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches with answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 41 countries / territories where French is an official language. The word searches help students develop their knowledge and awareness of the Francophone world, and just how widely it is spoken around the globe. I’ve used the definite article for the countries, so that students can see which countries are masculine, and which feminine, which in turn helps consolidate knowledge of gender in French. Grids 1-4: students search for a particular country. Grids 5 & 6: students search for a range of capital cities. Grid 7: 16 capital cities as prompts, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid. Grid 8: 16 countries, and students search for the corresponding capital cities in the grid. Grids 9 & 10: a selection of national flags, students search for the corresponding countries in the grid, and also write the country name in the prompt box next to the individual flag. There is a single grid per page, A4 (8.5 x 11) portrait format. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. Each grid has a corresponding answer key, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. There is also a complete reference sheet of all countries, capital cities, continents and flags. The word searches work well across the school year, not only when you’re focusing on les pays francophones. I use them as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers quite regularly - this really does help embed students’ learning, and they genuinely enjoy putting their memory to the test. GERMAN SPEAKING ACTIVITIES BEGINNER GERMAN INTERMEDIATE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN SPEAKING PRACTICE KS4 GERMAN SPEAKING PRACTICE GCSE GERMAN SPEAKING PRACTICE 100 PAIRED SPEAKING PROMPTS CARDS WITH REFERENCE BOOK AND TRANSLATION WORKBOOK Files are non-editable in a zipped format. This product is copyright, all rights reserved. It is illegal to copy, rewrite, amend, share or distribute it, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-use license only. School / departmental licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Provides structured talk opportunities, focusing on vocabulary, structures and general knowledge that students are generally engaging with from advanced beginner German level. The set addresses broad range of grammar points, such as adjectival endings, possessive adjectives and word order. Some questions and answers include modal verbs and subordinating conjunctions, which makes conversational German more realistic and communicative. Students will not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging implicitly with new language, as well as practising and reinforcing the current language focus. Both the questions and answers are a starting point: as students develop more competence and confidence in their German, they recreate either similar exchanges, or create entirely new ones, using the given language as a frame of reference. This also helps them develop independent learning and creative writing skills, making the activities really useful for multi-skill language learning. The set also provides students with an opportunity to develop their translation skills in German from the beginning of their learning, which is very important: they see that ‘word for word’ is rarely, if ever, accurate, and that a correct translation means correctly conveying the meaning of a clause or sentence, rather than every word that appears in it. The set comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format: = 100 cards, 50 questions and 50 suggested responses in German (10 cards per page, 10 pages) Laminate these if possible, as they’re more learner-friendly, and they will remain in excellent condition for years, so they can used many times = 6-page booklet containing all the questions and answers in both German and English = 6-page translation activity booklet, translating from German into English = notes and recording sheets - if students don’t have class workbooks, they can use the sheets to make notes as they create new questions and responses, and write their completed versions out in full. These sheets are also useful for more formal assessment purposes if required. The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. The games really help students develop their skill in telling the time in Italian in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, learning completely independently. Dominoes games are ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading. They are perfect for pair and small-group work too. Students work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino time-sequence line, on the classroom floor or on a long(ish) table, by matching the times and the clock faces. This kind of activity is really versatile, and useful not only during the introduction phase of learning these particular clock times, but at many times across the school year - for cover lessons, as starters, warm-ups, plenaries, practice & refresh, and also free-choice activity time - it’s a great idea to have a range of folders ready for students to select particular content according to what area they feel they’d like to work on. There are three games, each with a different challenge in the set: = Challenge One: times in numerical order, time phrase to clock face = Challenge Two: times in random order, time phrase to clock face = Challenge Three: times in random order, clock face to time phrase Have a browse in my store for more Italian resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. PRIMARY FRENCH KS2 FRENCH KS3 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-31 I HAVE WHO HAS? The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your classroom in any way. It is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply - please read them carefully. This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in French. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. The aim of the game is to create a French number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card zéro, and ending with the final card, trente et un. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning. Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best French accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play!
