Students taking higher tier GCSE maths in November needed just 15.4 per cent for a grade 4, information published by the exam board this morning has revealed.Ìý

Today, thousands of students across the country will find out whether or not they achieved that crucial grade 4 in their GCSE maths and English exams.Ìý

Almost half of candidates who sat their English GCSE exam in November achieved at least a grade 4, theÌýJoint Council for Qualifications revealed this morning.

The resultsÌýshow that more than 49 per cent achieved that crucial mark, while in maths, 34.9 per cent passed with aÌýgrade 4.Ìý

The number of students who sat the exam in November was significantly higher than in 2019, with all students unhappy with their centre-assessed grade in the summer able to sit the exam.

The grade boundaries

AQA

  • 16.25 per cent to pass mathematics higher paper at grade 4.
  • 48.3 per cent to pass mathematics foundation paper at grade 4.
  • 42.5 per cent to pass English language paper at grade 4.

AQA grade boundaries

OCR

  • 17.3 per cent to pass mathematics higher paperÌýat grade 4 (option components 04, 05, 06).
  • 41 per cent to pass mathematics foundation paper at grade 4 (option components 01, 02, 03).
  • 37.5 per cent to pass GCSE English languageÌýat grade 4.

  • 15.4 per cent to pass GCSE mathematics higher at grade 4.
  • 56.6 per cent to pass GCSE mathematics foundation at grade 4.
  • 46.8 per cent to pass GCSE English language at grade 4.
