Primary school headteachers and leaders have this morning criticised the “disgraceful and shambolic” delays in receiving their pupils’ Sats results.
The primary assessment gateway, through which headteachers can access their school’s key stage 2 Sats results, was meant to be available from 7.30am today.
But many heads have been met with error messages and have been unable to see the results.
This comes after primary school headteachers criticised the “ridiculous” wait times on the Standards and Testing Agency helpline during key stage 2 Sats week in May.
The NAHT school leaders’ union said that the wait this morning was “immensely frustrating”.
James Bowen, director of policy at the NAHT, said the problems were “completely unacceptable” and that “results day is stressful enough”.
Taking to Twitter to vent his frustration, primary assistant headteacher Danny Walton said that while teachers were “all making light and fun of” the situation, it was “disgraceful and shambolic”.
Michael Tidd, headteacher at East Preston Junior School in West Sussex, said his pupils’ results appeared on the 46th attempt.
And Henry Naylor, a primary assistant headteacher from Leeds, said he was “nervous as anything” waiting for the assessment gateway to stop crashing.
This year’s key stage 2 Sats were the first in three years following the disruption of the pandemic.
A Department for Education spokesperson said: “We’re aware that some schools are having issues accessing their key stage 2 assessment results this morning.
“We recognise this will be frustrating for schools and are urgently speaking with our delivery partner,Capita, to try to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
