Joint National Education Union leader says there is ‘absolutely a moral case for refusing to do tests that are damaging children’

A union leader has called for a “profound change” in the way that children are assessed.

Kevin Courtney, joint general secretary of the National Education Union, was speaking to Tes ahead of the annual conference of the union’s NUT section over the Easter weekend.

He discussed the case for boycotting SATs and the new baseline assessment for children in reception. Watch here:
