Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches with accompanying answer keys. It is aimed at beginner French to advanced beginner French students of all ages, focusing on 25 vegetables in French. The search grids include a range of masculine, feminine, singular, plural, definite and indefinite articles. This provides a really useful language learning opportunity, differentiating and increasing the challenge across the grids, and enabling students to engage with key grammatical concepts in French from the beginning of their learning programme. This makes the activity more comprehensive and meaningful in terms of progressing language learning than a straightforward vegetables in French vocabulary exercise.
Grids 1-5 feature French prompts and French responses in the grid. Students also complete a list of corresponding translations in English for additional consolidation. Grids 6-8 feature English prompts, with French responses in the grid, and a vocabulary list to complete. Grids 9 & 10 feature image prompts, with students searching for the corresponding word in French in the grid. They also complete a vocabulary list for additional consolidation.
Each grid and answer key is in landscape format, and the vocabulary list features all 25 vegetables alphabetically French-English. Students use the arrow key to identify in which direction the words appear in the grid.
The vegetables included are: artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber; eggplants; green beans; garlic; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas; peppers; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato

Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. The sets focus on nombres de zéro à dix / zéro à vingt et un, each featuring ten differentiated word searches, with an increasing level of challenge.
Grids 1 / 2 feature French number word prompts and French responses in the grid. Students also complete a list of corresponding translations in English for additional consolidation. Grids 3 / 4 feature digit prompts such as 0, 3, 9, and students look for the corresponding word in French in the grid. Grid 5 features numbers with gaps, such as *** f*** , and students have to work out what the number is in order to find it in the grid. They also have to complete the French word list for additional practice in spelling. Grids 6 / 7 have English number word prompts. Students translate the numbers into French, and then look for them in the grid. Grids 8 / 9 / 10 have calculations as prompts, for example deux + cinq. Students work out the response, write it in French in the list, and then look for it in the grid. Differentiating the search challenges in this way makes the activity more comprehensive and engaging than a straightforward French numbers vocabulary exercise.
Each grid is in landscape format, and has an accompanying answer key so that students can check their own responses. There is a French number reference list which students find really helpful to consolidate numbers and spelling.
This kind of activity is really versatile, and useful in a range of learning contexts, not only during the time where numbers are the current language focus: use individual grids as bell ringers / starters, fun-time fillers, finishers or for sub / cover lessons at any time of the school year. Students benefit from revisiting the word searches over several weeks until they are absolutely confident with the range of vocabulary.

TELLING THE TIME IN FRENCH BEGINNER FRENCH KS3 FRENCH TELLING TIME BINGO FOCUS ON 5 / 10 / 20 / 25 PAST AND 5 / 10 / 20 / 25 TO THE HOUR - 60 GRIDS, 2 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGES AND CALLING CARDS

Bingo games are an ideal multi-skill activity for French class, providing students with an opportunity to practise and consolidate language in a collaborative and communicative environment. Students generally find the competitive element really motivating, whether playing solo or in teams. The games work well in various learning contexts, for example learn and practice during the introductory phase, refresh and revise throughout the school year and activities for sub / cover lessons.
There are 60 grids in total: 40 with clock faces only, perfect for developing listening skills, and 20 mixed clock faces and time phrases. These grids work particularly well for both listening and reading skills. Students have to pay close attention to the individual grids, as some feature the same clock time both as a clock face and a clock phrase. There are four 4 x 6 grids per A4 (8.5 x 11) page. Students can play with any number of grids from either one or both sets in a single game, which is a straightforward way of increasing challenge. Grids can be distributed as whole pages, reducing prep time, or cut out individually. If you have erasable pens, laminating the pages of grids for repeated use reduces overall prep time and expense. The grids are designed for all squares to be crossed in order to win the game, and there may be more than one winner per game.
There is both a French and English calling card for maximum differentiation. For a focus on listening skills, use the French version; for more targeted practice of French times, use the English calling card alongside the French, calling out in both languages. Students will hear a French time phrase, and cross off the corresponding clock face. When you call out in English, students will hear for example***It is 25 past three*** but are looking for Il est trois vingt-cinq in the grid.

ADVANCED BEGINNER GERMAN FRUITS VEGETABLES TASK CARDS KS3 GERMAN FRUITS VEGETABLES CHALLENGE CARDS KS4 GERMAN FRUITS VEGETABLES CHALLENGE CARDS WITH GRAMMAR FOCUS ON DEFINITE AND INDEFINITE ARTICLES, SINGULAR AND PLURAL THREE SETS OF 48 CHALLENGE CARDS WITH ANSWER KEYS, RECORDING SHEETS AND VOCABULARY LISTS
Files are non-editable in a zipped format. This product is copyright, all rights reserved. It is illegal to copy, rewrite, amend, share or distribute it, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-use license only. Students can embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of the focus target language, as well as develop their German language skills in general, independently of the teacher. The questions are differentiated, ranging in complexity and challenge. They have a shared language focus: fruits and vegetables in German, within the context of two German cases - nominative and accusative - and German articles, masculine, feminine, definite, indefinite, singular and plural, with some reference to adjectival endings.
There is reference to a range of grammatical structures such as um… zu + infinitive, all of which give students opportunity to recognise and identify linguistic patterns, and to develop their German skills more holistically, without explicit instruction. This enables them to understand and use language in practical and communicative contexts, which is a more successful language learning strategy, and more engaging and challenging for students, than straightforward single-unit vocabulary memorisation drills or exercises.
There are some simple translation questions, both German - English and English - German. This helps students understand that translation is not simply a ‘word for word’ exchange from the beginning of their German learning programme. To get the most from the questions, it’s useful to discuss responses to multiple-choice questions, discussing how and why a response is either correct or incorrect. Use prompt phrases such as Ich gehe auf den Mark, um… zu kaufen or In meinem Korb habe ich… for oral games in class time. These are a great way of encouraging students to talk in German class, as well as an additional strategy for practising and consolidating language.
Each set comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format:
= 48 differentiated question cards. Laminating is definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as the cards are more learner-friendly and remain in excellent condition for years, so you will get a lot of use out of them. Print and laminate pages of questions cards, rather than cut out individual laminated cards, as this is far less prep, and works just as well in class.
= answer key & answer recording sheet. The recording sheet works well for more formal assessment purposes. Students can use their class workbooks for working and noting their responses in class time.
= alphabetical German-English fruits / vegetables list. The lists include gender (masculine or feminine) as well as definite and indefinite article, singular and plural.

Word wall classroom decor / display are an effective teaching and learning resource in German class. Students are able to see and engage with written key vocabulary in the everyday learning environment. Set 1 features German analogue clock times o’clock and half past the hour. Set 2 features quarter to and quarter past the hour. The word walls provide instant question and answer prompts such as Wie viel Uhr ist es? or Wie spät ist es? and align well with conversational scenarios like daily routine for example.
To fully maximise the learning potential of word walls and other classroom decor / display, it’s useful to compare and contrast language with students’ first / home language. This is particularly helpful with half past the hour in German, which students often find quite challenging, and really helps students develop their general language skills and awareness.
There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format, including two header cards Wie viel Uhr ist es? and ***Wie spät ist es?***. There are two backgrounds to choose from - either German flag, which looks great as display / decor, though increases prep costs quite significantly, and plain. Laminate the cards if possible. They will display really well, and also remain excellent condition for years. It’s a good idea to vary word wall and other classroom decor / displays on a regular basis, as this prevents them becoming ‘invisible’ to students.

Students often find speaking quite challenging in French class. They find it really useful to engage with activities that require them to reproduce language they are already familiar with, be creative with that language in order to produce new language, and also enable them to engage with entirely new language. Each set features 100 conversation starters / speaking / writing prompts in question format, featuring a broad range of language and grammar points. The CEFR level across the two sets is roughly A2-B2, with some reference to C1. The sets feature a complete reference sheet, and a planning sheet. The activity works well as a spontaneous speaking activity, and students also benefit from a more focused approach, where they can research and plan more detailed and complex responses as their competence and skills develop. The questions works equally well as creative writing prompts.
The starters broadly address the following themes:
= Set 1: personal information : family & routines at home : hobbies & free time : likes & dislikes : local environment : food & drink; school & studies : sport & healthy living; countries & languages : weather & seasons

Laminate the cards if you can, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. There are 8 clock faces per page. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the relevant order. Students will generally have several cards each, depending on the size of your class. It’s useful to set the cards on a table, so that students can see the timeline clearly. Playing in teams against a timer, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges together, is really popular, as students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. The games also work well as pair or small-group games.
There are two games in each set, each with a different challenge:
= Challenge 1: with all the the clock times in numerical order, Tengo… ¿Quién tiene… ?
= Challenge 2: with the all the clock times in random order, which really helps recall and embedding new language, as students often learn time phrases in numerical order, ¿Tienes…? Sí (No), tengo……
The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of Spanish resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.

TELLING THE TIME IN SPANISH BEGINNER SPANISH KS3 SPANISH TELLING TIME BINGO FOCUS ON 5 / 10 / 20 / 25 PAST AND 5 / 10 / 20 / 25 MINUTES TO THE HOUR - 60 GRIDS, 2 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGES AND CALLING CARDS

Bingo games are an ideal multi-skill activity for Spanish class, providing students with an opportunity to practise and consolidate language in a collaborative and communicative environment.
There is both a Spanish and English calling card for maximum differentiation. For a focus on listening skills, use the Spanish version; for more targeted practice of Spanish times, particularly half past the hour, use the English calling card alongside the Spanish, calling out in both languages. Students will hear a Spanish time phrase, and cross off the corresponding clock face. When you call out in English, students will hear for example***It is 25 past three*** but are looking for Son las tres y veinticinco in the grid.
The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of Spanish resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.

Students often find speaking quite challenging in French class. They find it really useful to engage with activities that require them to reproduce language they are already familiar with, be creative with that language in order to produce new language, and also enable them to engage with entirely new language. This set features 100 conversation starters / speaking prompts in question format, featuring a broad range of language and grammar points. The CEFR level is roughly B1-B2, with some reference to C1. The set includes a reference sheet with all the language featured in the set, and a planning sheet. The activity works well as a spontaneous speaking activity, and students also benefit from a more focused approach, where they can research and plan more detailed and complex responses as their competence and skills develop. The questions works equally well as creative writing prompts.
The set features a broad range of language and grammar, some of which students may not yet have formally covered, with several questions focusing on si + imperfect + conditional clauses, and a significant amount of implicit input on a range of grammatical concepts, such as agreement with preceding direct object, use of the subjunctive and so on. It’s useful to include new or unknown language in learning activities, as this gives students the opportunity both to practice and consolidate knowledge, to engage with and actively learn new language, and so to progress in their learning.
The starters broadly address the following themes:
music, film & television literature & culture : personal life, information & preferences : leisure & free time : health & well-being : history & society : recent & current events : travel, tourism & holidays : technology & social media : likes & dislikes : local environment : environmental & social issues : education & studies
