This presentation is a complete lesson with optional discussion points, but can easily be adapted to be used for an assembly by taking them out. It outlines some of the King’s history and education, his particular interests and looks at the pomp and ceremony of the day. There are links to a couple of videos - the Crowning of his mother, giving some idea of what to expect and how to make the royal quiche.
It allows opportunities to discuss the line of succession and the cost and benefits of such a momentous event, while also looking at the community events and impact. There is a worksheet to accompany the discussion.

This bundle includes lessons on a range of Awareness Days, but all are easily adaptable to be used to broaden awareness of global issues and the importance of acting on them to make a difference for future generations.
This lesson includes a presentation, discussion sheet and teaching notes with a link to a brief preliminary quiz on Forms. There are a range of discussion points to support understanding of what transgender and respect mean and looking at the wider context of hate crime.
This presentation and accompanying discussion sheet and teaching notes are designed to give students the opportunity to discuss issues surrounding race and hate crime on a basis of race. They should gain a fuller understanding of who is affected, starting with the quiz on Forms (link to duplicate in the Teaching Notes) and through the links to extracts from news articles. The resource also includes links to videos which you can choose to include (timings included so you can estimate what will fit your time slot). There is a focus on racism in sport and a wider discussion of how trends in sport influence society and vice versa.
This lesson is designed to either coincide with Organ Donation Week in September or fit in with your general LifeSkills/PSHE programme. It includes a presentation and teaching notes, which include a link to duplicate a survey on Forms to get students thinking about the topic and some of the issues which will arise. There are opportunities for discussion and to broaden awareness and blood and bone marrow donation are also mentioned. The penultimate slide includes plenary questions and the final slide links to further reading.
This resource allows for discussion around the damage being perpetrated by hate crime on a basis of religion and allows for discussion of terms around the subject, awareness of the history of such persecution, the religious make-up of England and Wales and the opportunity to understand what can be done to make a change and the role of the law. In addition to the Ppt, there is a Case Study worksheet and the Teaching Notes included a link to duplicate a preliminary quiz questionnaire on Microsoft Forms.
This lesson is designed to raise awareness around the issues of hate crime on a basis of sexual orientation and gives opportunities to discuss why crimes may go unreported and what is being done to increase understanding around hate crime and reporting. It would very much complement our Is Kindness the New Superpower lesson. The lesson includes opportunities to discuss the power of a smile and the personal right to smile or not, as well as introducing the notion of the positive aspects of acts of kindness.

This lesson is designed for Transgender Awareness Week and looks at its purpose, issues surrounding transgender and the importance of advocacy and support. It includes optional discussion, video and articles to consider and the Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate an introductory quiz on Microsoft Forms to gauge understanding prior to the session. The plenary slide allows for a summing up and to gain understanding of what students have gleaned.
