A Level The Merchant's Tale

(0)
This is a scheme of work which takes students through The Merchant’s Tale by Chaucer. Included are breakdowns of the whole text with annotations and a full text to allow students to annotate as we work through each slide. In addition, there is a translated version of the text into modern English to support understanding of language. Also included are critical quotations to support A05 . I taught this having taught A Doll’s House as a comparative text, so there are some links to this throughout the scheme; however, this can be adapted to teach in comparison to other texts on the OCR syllabus.

Setting revision A Christmas Carol

This resource allows students to work through an AQA exam style extract on settings. There is a walk through on how to answer part A of the exam on the extract and then a group task and research sheet in which students identify the significance of settings in the wider novel. All extracts are included in the PPT and can be printed onto A4/ A3 for use as a carousel task in glass where students gather evidence and discuss the significance of settings across all staves of the novella. There is enough here to last at least two lessons, maybe more.
