Use this set of INTERMEDIATE FRENCH conversation prompt cards to get even your most timid students talking to each other in French. These 83 question cards are terrific for discussion and journal writing prompts and they span 13 different themes: ➤ les langues ➤ le travail ➤ les animaux ➤ la santé ➤ ta région ➤ le transport ➤ les livres ➤ qu’est-ce que tu préférerais… ➤ le voyage ➤ les tâches ménagères ➤ la nourriture ➤ le shopping et les courses ➤ le sport This no prep activity is perfect for small groups or centers. Use these cards as a review and vocabulary builder with French students at any level. Included: 83 question cards (color and black and white versions as you see in the thumbnails) Instructions on ways to use these cards Sheet for students to record new vocabulary words in English and French There are many ways you can use this set of 83 speaking cards: ➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions. ➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity or ice breaker with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box. ➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out their answers including reasons for their preferences. ➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer. ➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards. ➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer the question. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. ➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move. ➤ Use the cards as a getting to know you activity or ice breaker at the beginning of the year or at a French club event. ➤ Great resource for tutoring sessions.

French 20 questions games - Small group or whole class no prep activities

(1)
French 20 questions games - Small group or whole class no prep activities The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in these 5 versions of the game, students will learn over 250 nouns that go beyond what they learn from a textbook chapter theme or every day classroom vocabulary. Included: 5 versions with vocabulary written in French and English 5 versions with vocabulary written in French only Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity. Each version includes 52 words. Many of the words will be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. EST-CE QUE……. … tu es une personne? … tu es un animal? … tu es un minéral? … tu es un endroit? … tu es un aliment? … tu es une plante? … tu es un objet? The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

GCSE FRENCH: French Speaking Activity: Faire de la Conversation

Your students are going to learn a lot with this lesson, and it will have them speaking to each other in no time. This lesson can easily be used with beginners, intermediate, or advanced learners. You can adapt it to every level. Beginners should at least know the verbs être and avoir and some very basic vocabulary. More advanced students can go far, as there are many possibilities. Activity 1 Practice making conversation during a phone call from your friend, Luc. He will ask you to come to his party. Your lines are fairly open-ended, but they must correspond to what he says next, so watch out! Activity 2 Before moving on to the second part of this speaking activity, let’s review some of the most common professions. You can practice this new vocabulary by clicking on the link above which will bring you to a set of review exercises on Quizlet. This document contains a list of professions in English and French, then there's another part with only the French word and an image. All of the images correspond to the images found within the Quizlet study set. After reviewing the professions vocabulary, proceed to the next page where you will see a picture of 11 different people, all with different professions. Activity 3 Tout d’abord, comment s’appellent ces gens, quel âge ont-ils, et quelles sont leurs professions? Have a look at the people in this picture. Use your imagination to determine what their professions are (you may not have the same ideas as others, and that’s ok). Once you’ve determined their professions, tell us what their names are, and how old they are. Again, use your imagination, and try to come up with some French names! Look just below the picture to see an example, then complete the exercise by providing the same information for the other 10 people in the picture (left to right). Activity 4 Now let’s imagine we’re at a party (une soirée). It’s time to make polite conversation (ce qui peut être difficile, mais nous sommes très polis, et intéressants!) Let’s imagine that all of the people in the picture above are at the party, but they don’t know each other. It’s time to make small talk (faire des rencontres et des échanges), en français! Activity 5 Randomly choose two people from the picture above. You’ve already established their names, ages, and professions. The objective here is to have two people who don’t know each other make small talk. You will be practicing your conversation skills, which are: starting a conversation, continuing a conversation, and ending a conversation.

Advanced French Grammar: 50 Challenge Cards using TOUT

Advanced French Grammar: 50 Challenge Cards using TOUT

(0)
âť– Advanced French Grammar: 50 Challenge Cards using TOUT âť– 4 page grammar lesson with examples, 50 challenge cards, 50 cards with grammar explanations, and quiz/worksheet. This resource will provide your intermediate to advanced students with a good way to practice and review the many ways to use TOUT in French. A lot of resources only include basic information and exercises using TOUT as an adjective. Sometimes it is difficult to find a resource that mixes up all of the many different ways to use TOUT, and when to pronounce the S on TOUS. For example, “Ils sont tous contents” means “They are all happy” while “Ils sont tout contents” means “They are very happy.” The following ways to use TOUT are covered in this resource: âAs an adjective: TOUT - TOUS - TOUTE - TOUTES âWith adjectives: TOUT - TOUTE - TOUTES âWith adverbs and expressions: TOUT âAs a pronoun: TOUT - TOUS - TOUTES Here’s what is included: 50 sentence exercise (multiple choice and fill in the blank versions) 4 pages of grammar notes and examples Three sets of cards are included. One has sentences with blanks and multiple choice answers. These cards include the answer written upside down at the bottom of the cards. This will allow students an opportunity to either work individually or in small groups and check their work as they go. A PDF with one card per page is included if you prefer not to print and either project to do a whole class activity or have students work on computers or tablets. Another set is identical, but these cards don’t include the answers at the bottom. A third set includes the correct answer, an English translation, and a grammar explanation also in English so that students will know exactly why this is the response. A one card per page PDF is included for these cards as well. I’ve laminated my cards so that I can pull them out time and again for a quick review on the many ways to use TOUT. There are enough of them that students won’t necessarily see the same ones over and over every time you pull them out. Great for test review or for seniors after a long break.
