Staff Management knowledge base

School career site

This guide will help you tailor your school career site in the Tes Portal to match your school’s branding and culture. Your career site is a public webpage for candidates to learn about your school and view your current vacancies.

Overview of the career site: With your Staff Management subscription, you get access to a customisable careers page for your school. This acts as a mini-website to showcase your school and list all your open job vacancies. It’s designed to attract candidates by providing insight into your school’s ethos and benefits, and it spares you from needing to update a separate jobs page on your own website (since it can be linked or embedded). Key features of your career site:

  • Present your school’s profile – describe your ethos, culture, location, and what makes your school unique.

  • Media and branding – add images of your campus or classrooms, include testimonials, and even embed a welcome video from the principal or students. Upload your school logo and an optional banner image to personalise the page.

  • Attachments – upload useful documents (e.g., school prospectus, vision/mission statements, or application forms) that candidates can download. (Note: any document you add here will automatically be shown on all your job adverts, so you don’t need to attach it to each vacancy.)

  • Vacancy listings – all your current open jobs (vacancies) posted on Tes will appear on this page, giving candidates a one-stop place to see opportunities at your school.

Setting up your career site:

  1. In the Tes Portal, click on the Administration tile, then select Career Site. This will open the career site editor.

  2. Click the Edit button to start customising. You will see fields to update text and options to upload images.

  3. Banner and logo: Upload your school’s logo (this will display prominently). You can also upload a large banner image for the top of the page – this could be a photo of your school or a branded graphic. If you don’t have one, you can ask Tes to help create one.

  4. Image gallery: You can add multiple photos of school life (students, staff, facilities). You can also drag to reorder them or delete if needed.

  5. Theme colour: Choose a highlight colour that matches your school’s branding – this will apply to buttons and accents on the career site.

  6. School description: In the text section, add a compelling description of your school. Include information like: benefits of working at the school, the community and location, values and achievements, etc. This is your chance to “sell” your school to potential applicants. Formatting is simple text – you can use headings, bullet points, etc., for readability.

  7. Quotes and videos: You have the option to add testimonial quotes (e.g., from teachers or parents about the school). You can also embed videos – for example, a welcome message from the headteacher or a campus tour. To add a video, you’ll need a YouTube or Vimeo link for the video.

  8. Attachments: Upload any documents that you want candidates to be able to download (such as a detailed job application form, school prospectus, recent inspection report, etc.). Remember, once you add an attachment here, it will automatically show up on each job advert’s page as well, under an “Attachments” section.

  9. When you’re done editing, click Publish changes at the bottom of the page to save and make your updates live.

Sharing your career site: Once your career page looks good, you can share it:

  • Direct link: At the top of the Career Site page in the portal, click Copy link to career site. This copies the unique URL of your school’s careers page (hosted on tes.com). You can paste this link on your school’s main website (e.g., on a “Vacancies” or “Careers” section) or share it on social media and other platforms to drive traffic. Candidates visiting that link will see all your current vacancies.

  • Embed on your website: If you prefer to embed the list of current jobs into your own school website, click Show live jobs (this might appear as an embed option on the published career site). This will display a small snippet of web code (an iframe code). You or your web manager can add that code to your school’s website – it will display an up-to-date list of your Tes vacancies directly on your site. This way, you only have to post a job on Tes once, and it will show both on Tes and on your school’s site automatically.

By keeping your career site updated and linking it to your main website, you ensure candidates always see the latest information and jobs without any extra work. You can return to the Career Site editor anytime via Tes Portal to make changes. All updates happen in real-time once published.
