Kayla's story

How did you come to study with Tes Institute?

After finishing my degree with the Open University, I was looking for a way to teach that would be recognised globally. Tes Institute caught my eye because it offered the flexibility to study at my own pace while working in my current school. It seemed like the perfect option for someone who wanted to balance work and study with guidance and support along the way.

Why did you choose to undertake this course? What did you want to achieve?

I needed something flexible that would let me work full-time and study when it suited me. I loved the idea of learning online, and the support seemed amazing. What I really wanted was to build my teaching skills and gain the confidence to be the best teacher I could be, and this course seemed like the perfect way to do that.

How has this course supported you to achieve your goals?

The course helped me feel much more confident in my abilities as a teacher. It gave me loads of useful knowledge and practical tips that I could use straight away in the classroom. I definitely feel more prepared to face the challenges of teaching now.

How did you find the application process?

It was super simple and straightforward. Everything was clear from the start, and I never felt confused about what I needed to do next. It was all pretty easy to follow.

What did you enjoy most about the course?

What I enjoyed most was the support from my mentor. She was always there when I needed help and was such a big supporter throughout the whole process.

We had regular check-ins, and she helped me stay on track with my progress. Her feedback helped me improve and really boosted my confidence. It was great knowing I had someone guiding me through the process and cheering me on. She genuinely made me feel like she was rooting for me every step of the way.

What would you tell another person who is thinking of applying for this course?

I’d say go for it! If you want a flexible, supportive way into teaching that fits around your life, this is perfect. The online platform is easy to use.

How would you sum up your experience with Tes Institute in a sentence?

It’s been a fantastic experience – flexible, super supportive and has helped me grow into the teacher I want to be!
