This is a full lesson based on two questions from AQA’s English Literature paper 2 from May 2020 - one based on Mr Birling and one based on males in the play. There is a quick ‘do now’ activity and two model what/how/why paragraphs based on the questions. This is very useful for revision, that also looks in depth at the park scheme and indicative comment. I’ve used it recently and have told my Year 11s and they responded really well to the lesson. I’ve updated the grade boundaries for 2024 exams.

Here are 12 questions for Section C of the AQA A-level English Literature Love Through The Ages paper 1 exam. These questions are focused on the different types of love that might be prevalent in the prose and poetry texts on the exam. Useful for revision, cover or homework. I have used these with my class and they have proved to be a useful resource.

Here are 45 different revision sheets for ‘Macbeth’. These activities can act as lesson starters or as separate revision activities in the run up to the exam. I used many of these last year with my two GCSE English literature classes. The students liked the variety. I varied their use between lesson activities and homework. In total here are five different activities: 10 ‘Thinking and Linking Grids’ - These can be used for longer activities and allow students to link concepts across the text. Useful for more able classes. 11 ‘Are You a Macbeth Know It All?’ sheets - Useful for covering the characters and themes in the play. 5 ‘Ranking Six Key Quotation’ sheets - These cover the whole play, looking at each Act. Basically it is a different way for students to revise key quotations in the play. The order is not too important. 7 ‘Give Me Five’ quick revision sheets - Useful whole text revision. 12 ‘Beat the Clock’ quotation close analysis sheets - these should last between 3 and 5 minutes so are ideal for ‘do now’ activities.

This is an excellent resource for last minute revision for the Love Through the Ages AQA English Literature A-level paper 1 Spec A. Here are 28 questions based on seven themes in Othello. Each question has a conceptual focus but asks students to find their own extract to analyze to give them a wider breadth of understanding and knowledge of the play. I have used many of these questions for my students over the years and have decided to put the questions on one resource as a last minute revision pack in the build-up to the exams.
