Edexcel GCSE Drama requires that students undertake a theory exam which draws on their knowledge of performance, directorial and design skills. This component accounts for 40% of the final grade and is heavily reliant on the student honing their ability to comprehend theatre literature, write critically, engage theory alongside practice, and structure their responses effectively to ensure maximum mark count.
Working at a fully inclusive school, these cheatsheets were originally created to scaffold the extensive expectations of each question for students who had barriers to learning. What became apparent as each cheatsheet was refined was that students across multiple bands could use this to ensure their improvements were truly felt.
Our Edexcel GCSE Drama C3 Cheatsheets now offer the following:
A full scaffolded breakdown of Section A which is able to be applied to any text
Inclusive of two performance question (4 and 6 marks), one director/production elements question (9 marks), one director/performance elements question (12 marks) and one designer question (14 marks)
A full scaffolded breakdown of Section BÂ which is able to be applied to any live evaluation
A habit-forming process which supports students to solidify the structure of their responses
Suggestion banks for skills, knowledge, impact and meaning making for each section seperately.
Students working solidly using this structure from the end of Year 10 have improved by two full grade boundaries on average.
Time saved for teacher: approximately 20 hours
Our A-level Component 1 Bundle is an absolute lifesaver for every teacher who is in need of an all-inclusive scheme of work which supports the devising, performing, designing and written or recorded portfolio requirements of a very large component of the*** Edexcel A-level Theatre Studies*** course. Our bundle makes use of The Glass Menagerie (excerpt) and Frantic Assembly (practitioner) but we have carefully worded all other components of our bundle to ensure that - should you want to - you can very simply rotate the extract and practitioner content by following the same guidelines and adding new research and tasks.
What’s included in this bundle?
A 20-page workbook which works in tandem with our amazing presentation and follows a scaffolded approach to the various tasks and activities that are required for a group and individual to succeed in Component 1.
This bundle also inlcudes a 100-slide upskilling Powerpoint Presentation which follows the same structure as our workbook whilst also leaving space for teachers to adapt and move content for their cohorts as they see fit
Approximately 150 hours of resource-building time saved.
Our GCSE Drama Component 3 Bundle is a comprehensive breakdown of the Edexcel GCSE Drama Component 3 exam paper, inclusive of our bespoke Section A and Section B cheatsheets and a comprehensive visual aid which corresponds directly with the walkthrough of the exam paper and each cheatsheet too.
What’s included in this bundle?
This bundle supports educators as a one-stop space for all the writing requirements associated with this exam format. Whilst sample questions have been pulled from exam papers, there is no prescriptive text associated with this walkthrough which means it is open for adaptations accordingly.
Section A Cheatsheet: structured to support all necessary writing for Section A (whether for performance, design or directing) and requires that all students complete the scaffolded breakdown even if they are already achieving well, ensuring that all weak links in the writing process are covered.
Section BÂ Cheatsheet: structured to support all necessary writing for Section BÂ (live theatre evaluation) and reminds students that the 6 and 9 marker questions are often swapped between performance and design considerations, covering all bases.
35-slide walkthrough Powerpoint Presentation which follows the same structure as our cheatsheets whilst also leaving space for teachers to adapt and move content for their cohorts as they see fit. The presentation includes a Section A and B quickfire analysis, a breakdown of each style of question, how to plan out the question as well as multiple question samples. There are also pages of prompts for what might be considered in each section, ensuring lively discussion and classroom tasks can (and should) be embedded throughout the walkthrough.
Students working solidly within this structure from the end of Year 10 have improved by two grade boundaries on average.
Approximately 75 hours of resource-building time saved.
A full secondary and sixth form target tracker document which includes bespoke rubrics for Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. All rubrics have been crafted through the use of both Edexcel GCSE and A-level marking schemes. The rubrics have been divided according to a holistic view of KS3 and a component-by-component breakdown of Years 11 and 13 which engages their corresponding skills in design, performance, devising and evaluative tasks. This ensures there is continuity in lingo used from Year 7 to Year 13, making it easier for students to plot their own learning journey from KS3 through to sixth form.
This resource has been revised over the course of four years with tweaks made for accessibility and ease of use for students when engaging their own learning journey.
Time saved for teacher: approximately 50 hours

Our Bloom’s Ladder is a pastel colour display item that can be printed as A3 posters. Under each of the six levels we’ve decided to use on our ladder you’ll find a series of buzzwords that relate to the type of questioning that is applicable to that level of knowledge acquisition for performing arts students across secondary and sixth form.  our levels are also defined for students who wish to learn how knowledge is acquired in and outside of the classroom.
The fonts we’ve used have been specifically chosen to support students who are dyslexic or have other reading difficulties. We’ve also chosen a subtle pastel colour palette to account for students who might be susceptible to sensory-overload  (especially in vibrant theatre spaces!) Please do contact us if you might prefer an even more subtle version or - as has sometimes been requested - a monochromatic colour scheme.
PLAY: The End (2020)
PLAYWRIGHT: Lauren Noble
CAST: 2
CHARACTERS: Miss Seraphim and The Assistant
SCRIPT: 4Â pages
RUNNING TIME: 9-12Â minutes
LICENSE: Full performance rights
The presiding judge at The Golden Gates, Miss Seraphim takes her work very seriously (though
she tends to be a bit more abrasive than would be expected given her immediate environment!) She has adopted the stylings of the Hollywood golden age with vintage glamour and a Mid-Atlantic twang - it’s all about the aesthetic for this angel! The play is set up as a dialogue that moves into an extended monologue allowing for pauses to indicate that the imaginary recruits are responding to Miss Seraphim’s queries. Joining her on stage is The Assistant who is the behind-the-scenes worker bee of this relationship! The Assistant runs the show and is trying really, really hard to support Seraphim in attaining that elusive promotion which would support them both in the long run. The Assistant is a direct, no-nonsense and highly strung inidividual… especially when Seraphim goes off-book. It’s a relationship of mutual respect or, at least, mutual understanding.
A two page document which can be printed or distributed online for students who wish to expand their abilities across a variety of skills and styles in the performing arts.
Set up as a stand-alone resource, this was used in our classroom for high-flyers that needed further challenge or high octane end-of-term lessons with a carousel approach.
The document instructions are as follows: “In the Performing Arts we use expansion packs to encourage students to widen their exploration of theatre. This practical expansion pack offers you a variety of mini-tasks to complete as an optional addition to your learning this year and can allows you to explore according to your interests. Every time you complete a full row, make sure to get a stamp or signature from your teacher… the more of these you collect throughout the year, the more chances you’ll have to be rewarded in different ways!”
Includes upskilling mini-tasks in:
Scriptwriting
Performing
Designing
Devising
Directing
Research

PLAY: The Bench (2020)
PLAYWRIGHT: Lauren Noble
CAST: 3
CHARACTERS: The Woman in the Park, The Woman and the Bench and The Intern
SCRIPT: 6Â pages
RUNNING TIME: 9-12 minutes
LICENSE: Full performance rights
A young woman sits on a park bench. She is in the midst of a difficult situation. Holding on to a large envelope, as if her life depends on it, it appears that she cannot decide how best to discuss something difficult with someone in her life. A stranger, dressed to impress, joins the young woman on the bench after offering her a tissue. She is a warm individual, finding ways to comfort the young woman without intruding on her privacy. The bench becomes a space for a nostalgic conversation to flow: about life, love, loss and the way that memories can sometimes be cruel. They part ways towards the end of the play, and a young volunteer wearing scrubs enters the playing space. She is carrying a banner which she begins to set up before the young woman bumps into her as she wrestles with a decision. The intern offers the young woman a kind word before she is tasked with delivering a fated envelope carrying the young woman’s news. The final reveal comes in the final 30 seconds of the play when the intern reveals the banner, and we realise where the bench has been located this whole time.
Our banner pack is a lifesaver for departments that need a vibrant entrance or corridor display that really makes an impact! With all the banners following the same font and colour scheme, we’ve also gone ahead and included a designer’s dream complete with process questions, design elements and space for teachers to add their own personality into this display too. Our hope is that this gives back some of the most sought-after commodity in teaching right now… time!

This series of Baseline Audits was created in my fourth year of teaching the National Curriculum of England, having taught the IEB framwork in South Africa until then. I knew I needed a bulk marking option for the relevant subject-specific glossary and theory to be assessed, because theatre education also requires a practical assessment to occur in the same timeframe. Our baseline audits have been used as a standard baseline at the start of the academic year as well as a mid-year or mid-course refresher for examination level students.
What’s included in this resource:
An increasingly difficult multiple choice style assessment KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Questions which can be adapted for other curriculums around the world accordingly, especially when considering the assessment content was pulled from multiple specifications.
Questions which engage with various aspects of performance, production and stagecraft.
One mark theory and visual aid questions which can be included as an online quiz for bulk marking at the start of the year with correct answers provided, but also one or two incorrect answers accordingly.
This offer also includes a completely free-of-charge Prezi Presentation (online) which follows the same content as assessed in all the baseline audits and can be assigned throughout the year or course in a treasure hunt style so that students continuously reflect on the baseline throughout their academic year:
Direct links to the assessment questions
Visually appealing cross-curricular approach
Pop culture referneces and current industry insights embedded in video content throughout
Additional research and discussion tasks embedded at the end of each unit of work
How to guides using the Collab Company teaching methodology
