Edexcel GCSE Drama requires that students undertake a theory exam which draws on their knowledge of performance, directorial and design skills. This component accounts for 40% of the final grade and is heavily reliant on the student honing their ability to comprehend theatre literature, write critically, engage theory alongside practice, and structure their responses effectively to ensure maximum mark count.

Working at a fully inclusive school, these cheatsheets were originally created to scaffold the extensive expectations of each question for students who had barriers to learning. What became apparent as each cheatsheet was refined was that students across multiple bands could use this to ensure their improvements were truly felt.

Our Edexcel GCSE Drama C3 Cheatsheets now offer the following:

• A full scaffolded breakdown of Section A which is able to be applied to any text
• Inclusive of two performance question (4 and 6 marks), one director/production elements question (9 marks), one director/performance elements question (12 marks) and one designer question (14 marks)
• A full scaffolded breakdown of Section B which is able to be applied to any live evaluation
• A habit-forming process which supports students to solidify the structure of their responses
• Suggestion banks for skills, knowledge, impact and meaning making for each section seperately.

Students working solidly using this structure from the end of Year 10 have improved by two full grade boundaries on average.
