What’s included?
This download includes one simple, predictable alphabet rhyme for the letter ‘h’ - in colour AND black and white (so x2 sheets in total). This rhyme has been set out landscape orientation - the complete ‘alphabet set’ is available in my TES shop!
What’s it for?
This rhyme is part of an alphabet set (of the same layout) and has been designed for learners to practise reading simple words (images make noun-words clear) and each rhyme practises one phonic sound - this rhyme focuses on ‘h’.
How to use it?
Using a pointer (or pointy finger!) learners point to each word/sound as they say/sing it out loud, some rhymes are more ‘silly’ than others(!) In this rhyme the horses wear the hats!
This is a unique, fun and engaging way to practise reading and phonics that all learners will enjoy. These rhymes also provide a great opportunity to practise using one to one correspondence - an important early reading skill.

This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support, revisiting any/all of these sounds and practising reading using one to one correspondence.

The layout of every letter/sound rhyme is in the same format, making this a predictable and structured activity, ideal to keep learners engaged and independent.
The font used is ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ - size 50, so a good, ‘easy to read’ size.

Suggestions
Learners might like to practise reading these on their own, in pairs or small groups or even as a class during a whole carpet session, reading/singing along together.
I recommend printing out the colour versions of these (the colours look so lovely!) and laminating each rhyme to help keep them in good condition. You may wish to introduce these rhymes alongside learning these sounds for the first time and have a set (e.g. of x6) of every rhyme printed out and laminated for groups to use as an extension/quiet activity. Or, these rhymes may be good to introduce later to recap on some sounds which may be proving to be more tricky to remember.
My classes of early years and year one children were really motivated to use these and very good at practising them quietly to themselves using ‘whispery voices’ (so cute!) I found that all learners really enjoyed using these with a ‘pointer’ which I had a pot of (pointers!) stored with the rhymes, ready to use.

This colour-word writing resource enables learners to use their phonic knowledge (from phonics phases 2, 3 and 5) to write each of the x8 colour-words included.
This activity is ideal for individuals to be getting on with independently and has been designed to promote autonomy - clear answers are included yet are to be folded out of sight for learners to then check themselves after having a try.
This could also be used by learners to revisit/practise writing these sounds with an adult.
How to use it?
Each colour (balloon) has the correct number of lines underneath for learners to sound out each colour word and write the graphemes (on these lines). Where more than one letter forms the grapheme the line provided is wider/longer, guiding learners on whether the phoneme is one letter or two.

The colour of each tick (above each balloon) indicates which phonics phase the sounds for that word are from making this ideal to target specific phonics areas and encouraging learners to practise their knowledge in this (colour word) context.

How to use it?
Each colour word is clearly included under each coloured balloon at the top of the sheet. These are to be cut out (following the dotted lines) and the balloons ordered alphabetically on the grid-row included.
For those learners needing additional support the colour words can be cross referenced with the alphabet included (at the top of the sheet) to help learners order these alphabetically. For more able learners/those needing a more of a challenge this supporting alphabet-reference can be folded back (out of sight) for learners to instead use their memory/recall their knowledge of the alphabet - to be used as appropriate depending on the needs of each learner.

This resource has been designed to make what a millilitre is visually clear to learners and to give learners an opportunity to count and identify a small amount of millilitres (up to 42).
How to use it?
The first page is an ‘information sheet’ - introducing learners to what a ‘millilitre is, that ml is short for millilitre and what millilitres are used/useful for. One thousand squares have been used to visually demonstrate what one thousand ml would look like and so how small just one millilitre is. This may be useful to make the concept of one (or more) millilitres visually clear to learners.
The second page also shows one litre/one thousand millilitres visually - as 1000 blue squares and provides learners with the opportunity to count a limited number of ml and write what amount this would be (if water) as ml.
Suggestion
When completing the second page of this resource learners may need it to be made clear to them that each number of millilitres (orange, yellow, green and blue questions) is always part of the 1000 blue squares pictured on the whole sheet and not just the 100 blue squares that the orange/yellow/green/blue squares are illustrated as part of…

The resource explores the concept of ‘opposites’ through two pictures showing the same scene with x9 differences (between the pictures) to identify. These differences are all ‘opposites’. These opposites are - on/off, up/down, sit/stand, sunny/rainy, shut/open, dry/wet, above/below, alive/not alive and in front/behind.
Once learners identify a difference between the picture scenes they can circle these and find the matching label below to link the two opposite word labels.
Page 2 is exactly the same layout with the opposite differences identified in both picture scenes with a circle and word label to make these clear.

Resource layout
The wordsearch letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font.
The people words have been organised into four groups of four (one group of five), clearly showing all hidden words below the wordsearch. As said, there are x17 words to find in total.
These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards). Words to find are; mummy, mother, daddy, father, man, boy, brother, girl, sister, parent, baby, grandma, grandad, people, children, friend and woman.
Recommendations
I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This wordsearch may be printed and laminated to be reused.

How to use it?
Pre-cut along dotted lines provided for the set of x15 words (including cutting to separate words from images). Shuffle and place face-up for learners to read and match.

These words are all from the list of Y1 ‘common words’ to read and spell. Some are also from the from the first 100/200 high frequency word list. It is possible to ‘sound out’ ‘most’ of these words, however some are ‘tricky’.

At the top-right of each ‘word box’ there is a coloured ‘triangle’. This colour indicates which phonics phase that word fits in with.
Key
There is a colour-code ‘key’ at the top of each sheet to make this colour-coded system clear.
pink triangles indicate that the words are from phase 2
purple triangles indicate that the words are from phase 3
turquoise triangles indicate that the words are from phase 5
underlined letters indicates that the letters (together) have one sound
red letters indicate the tricky/irregular letters/sounds.
It is possible to ‘work out’ some words which contain some red letters if the focus is placed on the black letters in those words which should be sounds learners know (depending on which phonics-phase they are competent in).
‘Tricky words’ (which can’t be sounded out) are underlined as one word instead.
The dark grey box outline colour indicates that these words are all part of the ‘colour names’ set. Sets for 'nouns’ and ‘number names to 20’ are available and other common/high frequency word sets are coming.

There is a solid blue line below the top and central number line to visually separate these and below this a dotted line to guide cutting if it is better to cut and use each number line separately. Number lines may be best printed, separated and laminated to enable re-use.

Page 1 features a hundred number square and simple instructions for learners to circle or colour each number (red for odd numbers and green for even numbers) depending on whether the numbers are odd or even. Learners will need to be familiar with what ‘odd’ and ‘even’ means and if they don’t already know which of these numbers are odd or even they will need to know how to work this out.
After completing the 100 number square there is a question (in the blue cloud shape on the left) asking learners ‘What do you notice?’ - this is to encourage learners to identify that once the numbers have been coloured there is a red/green repeating colour pattern. There is a space on the left for learners to record their own answer to this in the blue box provided or learners could articulate their observations to an adult who could write this for them as needed.
There is a clear space for learners to write their name at the base of page 1 (on the left) as well as recording the number date at the top (on the right).
Page 2 features two large boxes - red for odd numbers (on the left) and green for even numbers (on the right). At the base of sheet there are x15 (random) numbers (up to 100) for learners to cut out (following the dotted lines) and sort into the red/green boxes above. Learners could use their completed page 1 as a reference to help with completing page 2.
There is a clear space at the top of page 2 (on the left) for learners to write their name as well as recording the number date (on the right).

If using pen I would encourage learners to ‘circle’ each number (rather than ‘colouring them in’) to avoid the paper becoming saturated with pen - particularly if learners will then use page 1 as a reference to complete page 2. One ‘landscape orientation’ pdf sheet featuring x6 rows of x5/x9 pairs of eyes from 0 to 100 counting in 2’s.
Features x50 boxes with one pair of eyes in each box and a large blank space under each image where the learner can write the correct 2’s number. Each row includes one randomly spaced ‘helping number’. These numbers are 4, 26, 36, 48, 80 and 100 to guide learners as they go.
There is a clear space for each learner to write their name at the lower edge of the sheet and a simple instruction at the top guiding learners on what to do, encouraging their autonomy.

x15 cards each featuring one rabbit (with two ears!) and a ‘two’s number’ underneath. Cards are from 2 - 30. These Counting in 2’s Rabbit Cards can be used to practise counting and ordering numbers (in twos).
These cards can be used with the ‘Carrot Game’ listed separately in my TES shop if you would like to play this game.

Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed to break down each step involved in writing these eleven numerals correctly, using green (go!) ‘starting dots’ and red ‘stop dots’ to make it clear to learners exactly where to begin and end writing. Colour coded arrows guide learners on which direction to follow. This resource should help in providing some focused additional support looking at these numerals more closely for those pupils who need a greater level of support and maybe find it harder to remember which direction to follow.
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.

The font used is Sassoon Infant Std - size 150.
This activity has been designed to write straight on. The start and stop dots make it clear where learners place their pencil to begin/where to end and dotted lines on top of letters provide guidance of exactly which direction to write.
There is a clear space for learners to write their name on the line at the base of the sheet and a clear space to record the number-date at the top of the sheet - helpful to keep sheets and track progress (and improvement!) over time…
