We'd love to know what you think of what you download, so please don't hesitate to get in touch...
What’s included?
This download includes x2 (portrait orientation, pdf) A4 sheets, featuring one ‘February’ word search (page 1). The answers on page 2 clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) to promote autonomy whilst providing easy comparison/quick reference.
Who’s it for?
This word search has been designed for pupils the early years, in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support. Nouns are illustrated to make the meaning of these words clear to learners - this would also benefit pupils with EAL.
Resource layout
The word search letters are arranged in a x12 by x12 square grid and featuring easy to read ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font.
The February words have been organised into four groups, clearly showing all hidden words below the word search. There are x20 words to find in total.
These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (backwards, down). Words to find are; card, cold, cosy, dark, gift, winter, chocolates, cupid, flowers, hearts, love, valentine, amethyst, february, second, aquarius, pisces, primroses, irises and violets.
Recommendations
I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified, some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible. This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused.

Resource details
Size 40 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the number signs - = easy to read and the large boxes model a clear layout of the subtraction process to young learners.
The portrait format provides optimal space for each sum, a good sized box enables learners to place small objects and draw these to count and record the total amount. Learners will need to move the total amount counted into the first box (on the left) to the box in the centre to then ‘subtract’ the amount from there. Learners can draw the total number of objects left in the last box (on the right). There is a line underneath each box on which to write the numbers.
Recommendations
Small objects can be placed in each box as long as these are not deemed a choking hazard for your little learner/s). Suggestions of small objects (to count) include:
small coloured matchsticks
buttons
pom poms
sticky spots
stickers especially if themed to suit your learner’s interests
Learners could also roll dice and draw the number of spots rolled in the boxes, writing the total number of spots underneath.

What’s included?
x6 sheets, portrait orientation, pdf format. x8 images and matching x8 words to sound out and read as well as match to images.
What’s it for?
This 'Phase 2/3‘ picture and word matching set has been designed to be a simple activity to consolidate learning. This set focuses on sounds within Phase 2 AND Phase 3.
This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently and/or for learners to revisit these sounds with an adult.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for Early Years children who are learning these sounds for the first time, pupils in Year 1 who need some practise/reinforcement of these sounds. This resource is also ideal for learners with additional learning needs.
How to use it?
Each learner sounds out the graphemes printed on the ‘word cards’ then matches these to the and ‘stand up character/picture cards’. There are x8 pictures and word cards to match.
Resource Details…
Each word card has a coloured triangle (top, left). Pink indicates these words are using Phase 2 sounds. Purple indicates that these words use Phase 3 sounds. Red graphemes indicate that these sounds might be more tricky as different people can pronounce these sounds differently. E.g. the ‘er’ in the word ‘cracker’ many people pronounce this as an ‘uh’ or ‘a’ sound. Learners may need support with these (red) graphemes.
ALL images/words featured here have been chose because they CAN be sounded out - the ‘tick’ pictured on the coloured (pink/purple) triangle indicates that these words can be sounded out.
The words included are listed here:
Phase 2 Words
elf
robin
Santa
Phase 3 Words
cracker
tree
Nutcracker
snowman
pudding

What’s included?
This download includes x1 portrait orientation pdf to make an ‘Advent Candle Countdown Calendar’ to count down the December days from the 1st to the 24th.
What’s it for?
This countdown has been designed to be used for by an individual/group or class to countdown the days to Christmas together. It has been designed to be made by or with an adult - an adult leading the way with what the steps are and a child/learner helping with these as they are able.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students with additional learning needs. An older, able, pupil may be able to make this ‘with’ or ‘for’ a younger learner in a paired activity, working together.
Resource Details
Everything needed for the finished Advent Candle Countdown Calendar is included on the pdf. There are six main instructions and additional, detailed, information positioned next to the relevant parts to make what to do clearer. The main task is to cut along the red dotted lines to cut the candle shape out and separate the ‘flaps’ which will fold over the image (for each day) to hide it.
Numbers are provided to stick onto these flaps (in order from the base of the candle to the top), or these numbers can be written by hand instead - whatever is preferred/easiest.
Learners will need a pencil (to write their name), a pair of scissors, a glue stick and a small ball of Blue Tac (the size of a small marble) - this piece of Blue Tac will then be made into x24 teeny tiny balls which are used to secure the flaps closed until it is the date to be opened.
Suggestions
This pdf will need to be printed onto white card or it won’t be strong enough to stand up by itself.
Double sided sticky tape might be a better alternative to secure the candle shape together (instead of using the glue stick). Glue/double-sided sticky tape is to be applied to the single purple strip, positioned vertically on the right hand side of the pdf.
Read the six steps carefully before beginning to help make the process as easy as possible.

What’s included?
This download includes x3 A4, portrait pdf sheets for learners to make their own ‘mini book’ to share in writing and drawing some simple information that is ‘all about me’ to help learners and new teachers to get to know each other.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource Details
Page 1 This page has been designed to be the ‘book’ itself. The top section is the front and back cover, the middle and lower section have been designed as the pages to go inside the book. Learners are to cut along ‘dotted’ lines on page 1 to create three separate strips - these are the ‘pages’ of the book. Learners then stack these three pages together - with the ‘All about me!’ cover positioned at the front and fold along the ‘dashed’ lines. Learners can write their name on the line provided on the front cover before continuing with making their mini-book.
Next step - learners stick information (see pages 2 and 3) on front AND back of these pages to add more information to their ‘all about me’ mini-book.
Learners will each need a pencil, scissors and a glue stick. Adults may wish to ‘staple’ the spine of these mini-books together (along the ‘dashed lines’) once complete.
Pages 2 and 3. These pages have been designed to be cut out as individual squares and completed by learners before being stuck into the prepared mini-book. Learners can choose which ‘squares/pages’ to include in their mini book - there are several to choose from…
Information for learners to complete includes…
drawing a picture of themselves
writing the number for how old they are, drawing the correct number of candles onto a birthday cake to show this and recording in writing when their birthday is
writing or drawing and labelling something that they did during the summer holidays
colouring and writing the name of their favourite colour
drawing and labelling their favourite food (on a plate)
writing or drawing and labelling their favourite ‘thing to do’
circling a sentence to indicate whether they have a pet/s (or not)
writing the type of creature their pet is/pets are and their pets name/s
circling a sentence to indicate whether they like school (or not)
writing or drawing and labelling something they like about/to do at school
writing or drawing and labelling something they do not like about/to do at school

Resource Details
Both sheets are in the same layout, however one has been designed to be more simple than the other
Simple Version
Learners complete the sentences by writing their own information on the lines provided. There is a space on the right for learners to complete a simple ‘self portrait’ - adding their eye colour, eyebrows, nose, mouth and hair. The written information on the right of this links/should link to the portrait when completed. There is a space on the right for learners to complete a simple ‘self portrait’ - adding their eye colour, eyebrows, nose, mouth and hair. The written information on the right of this links/should link to the portrait when completed. Under the portrait learners complete their birthday, favourite colour, favourite thing to do and favourite food in writing. In addition learners circle a tick or cross for whether they like school (or not) and can complete sentences recording one thing they do and don’t like at school - hopefully helping their new teacher get to know and understand them better.

What’s included?
x4 sheets, portrait orientation, pdf format.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for children in the early years, pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support.
What’s it for?
This resource encourages learners to identify 2D shapes while practising counting (carefully and systematically) up to 12 objects.
How to use it?
Learners identify the x8 different 2D shapes hidden (on page 2) and once they have counted the total number of each shape (maximum number is 12) learners record this total amount on the recording sheet (page 1). Answers are provided on pages 3 and 4 in exactly the same layout for quick, easy reference - encouraging learners to be autonomous in checking their own work (carefully).
Suggestion
Encourage learners to use a different coloured crayon/felt tip pen when counting each different 2D shape (using page 2). This will make finding and counting each different 2D shape much easier and systematic for learners. Learners don’t need to colour the whole shape - just placing a dot in each as they count will help them to keep track of which shapes they have already counted!
Provide ‘answers sheets’ (pages 3 and 4) for groups to share and only once the 2D Shape Eye Spy activity has been completed!

Number fans can be used in a variety of situations including on-the-carpet questioning with the whole class/smaller groups where pupils can show their answers instead of speaking. Number fans can be used as a personal reference resource for learners e.g. to help count and order numbers and/or cross-check the correct orientation of individual numbers if unsure when writing. Number fans can also be used for a variety of games and to accompany and involve learners during counting rhymes and songs, usable both inside the classroom and outdoors.
The rainbow colours may help some learners not yet confident with number recognition, who know colours. E.g. if you ask, ‘Can you show me number 3?’ - this could be followed by ‘Can you show me number 3, the orange number?
Suggestion
Brightly coloured plastic keyrings (which can be easily opened by unclipping the plastic) could be ideal where you wish learners to access the contents of the ring e.g. to order the numbers. Alternatively a short loop of wool/string could be tied/untied to achieve the same effect. A standard metal keyring works well as a more permanent ‘holder’ of the contents threaded onto the ring.
I recommend that each number is laminated before punching a hole and threading onto a keyring - this is included in the instructions on the pdf.

What’s included?
This download includes two pages (x2 A4 sheets, portrait orientation) featuring one ‘household words’ (nouns) wordsearch (page 1). The answers (on page 2) clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) for easy comparison and quick reference.
Who’s it for?
This wordsearch has been designed for pupils the early years, in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support.
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to encourage and support young learners with reading ‘high frequency’ key words.
There are x24 words to find - a lot !
Resource layout
The wordsearch letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font.
The household words have been organised into four groups of six, clearly showing all hidden words below the wordsearch.
There are x24 words to find in total, all words are illustrated making this resource even clearer to young learners and children with EAL.
These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards and backwards). Words to find are; ball, bath, clothes, boat, river, water, car, chair, table, grass, plant, tree, box, hat, home, key, money, bed, book, door, school, shoes and window.
Recommendations
I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This wordsearch may be printed and laminated to be reused.
