This pack contains a baseline assessment, gap analysis spreadsheet, precision teaching booklet and interim tests. I have used these resources in Year 4 for years to ensure students make rapid progress with learning their times tables. These resources would work equally well in Year 5 and 6, but could also work in Year 2 and Year 3 if the relevant times tables are focused on.
Full instructions and answers are included as shown in the photos.
Students first complete a thorough baseline assessment, which is designed to immediately highlight the times tables that they need to learn. Then, students learn the relevant times tables using the precision teaching booklet, which helps them get each number fact into their long term memory. Precision teaching works best when it is done little and often, but it also works over longer more intense sessions. It can be done in pairs or with adult support, so it is perfect for whole class sessions, interventions or for use at home. Once students feel like they have learnt a times table, they can do short one minute interim tests to track their progress.

Students use their understanding of line graphs, pictograms, bar charts and tables to work out which dog stole a large amount of dog food from the supermarket. There are five pieces of evidence to interpret, which are used to eliminate suspects from the investigation (murder mystery style). This fun investigation is aimed at upper KS2.
Complete answers are provided for each part of the investigation as shown in the photos.

This bundle includes two projects to be completed by Year 6’s after SATs.
The Residential Project prepares students for going on residential and encourages them to reflect on their experiences.
The Design a House Project could be used by students who are not going on residential or for the whole class after SATs.
Both projects are intended for students to complete independently and some of the Residential Project tasks require access to the internet.

The learning behind every Year 6 maths national curriculum objective is modelled in this training PowerPoint. Examples include how to divide proper fractions by whole numbers, how to use long multiplication and division, how to describe linear sequences and how to calculate the area of parallelograms and triangles,
When I started working as a maths lead, I realised that most staff were apprehensive about their maths subject knowledge. This was particularly up to the level of Year 6 students and especially in areas such as fractions, algebra and ratio, which they had forgotten from school. Teachers and TA’s found this training really useful when it was given as part of INSET days and staff meetings.
It was later given to students and parents to help with home revision.

A must-have resource for teaching equivalent fractions, decimals and/or percentages! They enable students to visually make connections. They are great for display, sticking in books, cutting up to make manipulatives or for support on desks.

This booklet includes lots of engaging activities with curriculum links to maths (addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, perimeter and measurement), geography, computing, DT and English.
Example tasks include designing a pizza on a budget, calculating the weight of ingredients, creating a tv advert for the bakery, producing a hygiene training slideshow, creating a piece of artwork for the wall of the bakery and replying to an email complaint.
Students should be able to complete the tasks relatively independently. Access to the internet is not necessary, but might be helpful. There are two versions of this booklet (printer friendly and booklet) so you can decide how your students record their answers.

This booklet contains several lessons with curriculum links to maths (addition and subtraction, multiplication, area and percentages) and geography.
All information is included so pupils do not need access to the internet and should be able to complete relatively independently. Students calculate the cost of a house that they have designed themselves as well as the costs of the interior (sofas, chairs, curtains, lighting, paint etc). This resource could be used as a post test project, as an end of year activity or during money week to teach about saving money for a purpose.
A PowerPoint, bank statement and tasks sheet is included. These are used to guide students through the process of identifying where an example person could be saving money by focusing on what she needs, shopping around for the best deals and buying less. Students then get chance to find a house using property websites to suit her budget. Pupils will need access to the internet.
Suitable for upper KS2 and above.
