This pack contains a baseline assessment, gap analysis spreadsheet, precision teaching booklet and interim tests. I have used these resources in Year 4 for years to ensure students make rapid progress with learning their times tables. These resources would work equally well in Year 5 and 6, but could also work in Year 2 and Year 3 if the relevant times tables are focused on.
Full instructions and answers are included as shown in the photos.
Students first complete a thorough baseline assessment, which is designed to immediately highlight the times tables that they need to learn. Then, students learn the relevant times tables using the precision teaching booklet, which helps them get each number fact into their long term memory. Precision teaching works best when it is done little and often, but it also works over longer more intense sessions. It can be done in pairs or with adult support, so it is perfect for whole class sessions, interventions or for use at home. Once students feel like they have learnt a times table, they can do short one minute interim tests to track their progress.
