I am an experienced English teacher of both Literature and Language, and also Classical Studies at High School level. You will find text-based resources for novels, poetry, plays and film study in my shop for Years 7 - 13. The resources are generic to the text so are suitable for any curriculum. I am also a passionate believer in effective literacy learning hence the emphasis on phonics resources in my shop.

I never thought I would be using Godzilla and King Kong to develop Maths skills, yet here we are : ) 20 flashcards, each students gets a card. At the top they have the answer to the previous sum. They have to ask their math question, the others students have to work out based on the number of Baby Godzillas and Baby Kongs, if they have the correct answer at the top of their card. Godzilla is always the first number. Kong the second. It’s a basic card loop game involving numbers 1-12.

The handout presumes the students are familiar with the persuasive and rhetorical devices used in advertising. This resource has been designed as an activity for students to show their understanding of these techniques. Independent student activity on HOmer’s The Odyssey. Students need to be familiar with the story and Greek myths in general. It is designed as a revision and extension activity. Students also need to be familiar with representing their ideas through metaphors / symbolism. The static image / poster is one way of students showcasing their knowledge of the myths symbolically. This can obviously be adapted to other means of presentation. Originally designed for New Zealand Curriculum NCEA Level 2 Classical Studies.
