SPANISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES PRIMARY SPANISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES KS3 SPANISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES Files are non-editable in a zipped format. This product is copyright, all rights reserved. It is illegal to copy, rewrite, amend, share or distribute outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. School / departmental licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 33 Spanish Christmas words, which are also useful as a prompt to stimulate discussion about Spanish Christmas practices and customs, and what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, where students are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer key for each word search, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. There’s a Spanish-English Christmas vocabulary reference sheet - you can either laminate this to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general reference resource. Students will have to look carefully at some of the words they’re looking for, as they may appear slightly differently - for example, they may have to find the gifts and work out what that is in Spanish - only the prompt the gift appears in the reference list. The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of Spanish resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y FELIZ NAVIDAD!

Perfect for young learners of Spanish and an ideal introduction to the animal kingdom in Spanish. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both***masculine and feminine***, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in Spanish too. It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with Spanish, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic indicators. There are 24 animals featured, across a series of decks, which enable you to vary and differentiate your games: Deck 1: picture and words cards, with both an image of, and the word for, the animal in Spanish, which is useful for multi-skill learning, particularly in the introductory phase of learning animal vocabulary, and for familiarising students with the written word in Spanish. Deck 2: picture-only cards, useful for vocabulary recall Deck 3: word-only cards in French, useful for word recognition, reading and spelling. Deck 4: word-only cards in English, useful for a variety of games focusing on vocabulary recall Deck 5: both Spanish & English words on a single card, useful for close comparison of language, and recognition of corresponding words The animals featured are: a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a caterpillar : a chicken : a cow : a dog a donkey : a duck : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a pig : a rabbit : a sheep : a spider : a turtle / tortoise The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of Spanish resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

I have, who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in Spanish. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - it’s useful to point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents , such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word. There are 25 animals featured in the game: bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle All the animals may not be in your immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply practising or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practising particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too. There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary. Laminate the cards if you can: they’re far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years, so you’ll be able to use them over and over again. Please read the Terms of Use. An instant introduction to 25 vegetables in French. I like to share essential beginner French vocabulary that I can use in everyday talk with my young learners from the beginning of their French learning programme. The key focus is on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. We use the set not only when we’re introducing and practising French vegetables, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. Students are able to familiarize themselves with how French words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. I don’t actually introduce 25 vegetables at once, but in my classroom decor, I generally have additional language to maximize students’ exposure to related vocabulary. The vegetables are: artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber; eggplants / aubergines; French / green beans; garlic; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas ; red peppers; yellow pepper; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two design formats to choose from - French flag, or plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum, so 50 flashcards / posters in total. I always print on card stock and / or laminate my flashcards / posters, as they display much more effectively, and remain in excellent condition for years. Try this French fruits flashcards free sampler - the design format is the same: FRENCH FRUITS FLASHCARDS POSTERS FREE SAMPLER /teaching-resource/french-fruits-flashcards-posters-free-sampler-13105269 Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. The activity also works well as an ice-breaker in the back-to-school phase, as it’s a very social activity, and really gets students up from their desks, walking around talking to each other. The information addresses a very wide range of languages topics, from world history, history of language, varied fields within linguistics to global languages facts for example. The cards are designed for older students, as the facts do require a certain level of world knowledge and language awareness, and particularly world geography. I always screen a world map first, pointing out continents, countries, regions and territories and so on, because using the cards is also a great way of actually learning about the world, its history, shifting geographical and political borders, migrating populations and so on. The cards are versatile, useful in a variety of learning contexts, such as entrance and exit cards and the***walk and talk activity***, a really popoular activity where students take a card each, walk around the classroom, exchanging facts - when they’ve shared the information on their card, students swap cards, and carry on walking - in this way, they encounter the same facts a couple of times, which really embeds knowledge. Please note this is the European Days of Languages #1 version of our Facts about Languages #1 set: if you have already purchased that set, there is no need to purchase this one. Laminate the cards if possible: they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. Before playing, it’s useful to show students a map of Europe, so that they can visualize the location of each country and capital city, not only as an individual location with Europe, but also as a location in relation to other European countries and capital cities. This definitely helps students understand and memorise the countries and capital cities. The Lively Learning Classroom has a wide range of geography resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. THANKS AND ENJOY THE QUIZZES! Please note this is the Geography World Continents Europe Countries & Capitals Quizzes version of our European Day of Languages Europe Countries & Capital Cities quizzes - please ensure you have not already purchased the European Day of Languages version.

The flashcards / posters introduce students to a range of animals in French, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how French words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. Students notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are une. Use this as a prompt to introduce the concept of gender in French. There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which is a great opportunity to begin to compare French to English. There are some insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as ours and loup. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from their first language, helps students become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts in both languages, which is really useful for both current and later learning. The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel : a turtle / a tortoise : a wolf It doesn’t matter if some of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters / flashcards provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of new and unknown words from visual clues or prompts. There are three sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, each with a different background for you to choose from: French flag, animal footprint or black wave. The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISAGE !
