Non Fiction - Survival - Contaminated Water
KS3 - A lesson where students learn about contaminated water on the Island they would be staying on for a reality TV show called “The Last Survivor” in which they would have to survive on the island for 28 days. Students must keep a diary of their time on the island.
The lesson focused on using sophisticated and imaginative vocabulary, model diary entry, sentence stems and self assessment activity.

Non Fiction - Survival - Injury
KS3 - A lesson where students have to cope with an injury whilst on the Island they would be staying on for a reality TV show called “The Last Survivor” in which they would have to survive on the island for 28 days. Students must keep a diary of their time on the island.
The lesson has a variety of resources including teaching information on how to treat a sprained animal or animal bite, a vocabulary worksheet, a focus on adverbs so that students can use them in their writing, a model diary entry and sentence stems.

Non Fiction - Survival - Storm (Pathetic Fallacy)
KS3 - A lesson where students have to survive a storm on the Island they would be staying on for a reality TV show called “The Last Survivor” in which they would have to survive on the island for 28 days. Students must keep a diary of their time on the island.
The lesson focuses on using pathetic fallacy in their descriptive writing. A variety of resources including a vocabulary bank, model diary entry, sentence stems and self assessment activity.

Non Fiction - Analysing a Non Fiction text
KS3 - A lesson where students examine a review of “The Island with Bear Grylls” and answer a question on the language used in the review. A variety of resources including comprehension questions on the text, an annotated model paragraph, a planning table and sentence stems.
