A fully resourced lesson that explores the DTM in an active way. The power-point covers the key definitions and includes video links. The main activity is a market place/carousel activity in which the students move around the room collecting the information for each stage. The information sheets are in colour for high impact and would benefit from laminating to ensure they can be reused. The data uses pyramids from the CIA website. Designed to meet the demands of the 9-1 GCSE but suitable for KS3.

Designed for the 9-1 AQA Geography Exam. A complete lesson based on the Thar Desert as a case study for the Opportunities and Challenges section. The lesson contains a video link that covers the case study in detail. This is supported by a scaffolded exam question which includes an answer sheet. The lesson combines a memorable case study with a structured assessment activity. The examiner reports identifies that students found applying specific information to this question was problematic for many and the scaffolded exam question addresses this issue. They all remember the golden rat!
An alternative/complementary lesson based on the Oxford textbook is available separately.

A glossary sheet that covers the subject specific vocabulary that is needed for the first section of the Changing Economic World Unit. Definitions are taken from the syllabus but have been simplified slightly where appropriate.
A fully resourced lesson that covers the cause, effects and responses to a specific hurricane. Good to go and no additional resources required. Written for the AQA 9-1 GCSE Examination. Hurricane Haiyan makes a great up to date example. The Power-point has differentiated objectives linked to the new levels. The emphasis is on getting students to engage with the activities and demonstrate understanding.
Resource sheets include differentiated activities and allow students to consolidate their learning. This can be completed as a single lesson with a straightforward case study template but with all the questions and resources there is plenty of material for 2 lessons and homework activities.
The teacher copy of the example template can be used as a revision resource as it provides a concise summary of the content required.
