A full, detailed and comprehensive scheme of work covering all aspects of the Eduqas GCSE Media specification. Approx 17 lessons including exam pracitce.

A lesson which explores media regulation as a concept and looks at some media products which have been complained about and banned in the UK. The lesson also focuses on Livingstone and Lunt’s theory of regulation, breaks down and evaluates the ideas of the theory. The lesson focuses on the set TV products for Eduqas A level Media Component 2 but can be very easily adapted to focus on any other media products or industries. Makes use the the Eduqas A Level year 2 text book.

A double lesson which introduces the concept of media representations to year 10 students (but could be taught to any year group). This lesson focuses on the representation of nation in the media, explores the concept of stereotyping and introduces representations theory and LOTS of media terminology. Also included is a creative task and an essay based task on the representation of nation in The Daily Mail (Trumpquake).

A complete unit of work on the Eduqas set product Quality Steet and print based advertising. Updated fro September 2022. All aspects of the theoretical framework are covered with lessons on: product context (1950s and the class system), media language, colour, gender, gender theory, age, representations, exam practice on all questions.

Approx. 2/3 lessons covering everything on Waterfalls. This can be done as two revision lessons or elements can be expanded on for more in-depth first time teaching. All aspects of the specification are covered: Media Language, Context, Representations.

A complete scheme of lessons covering all aspects of the specification on GQ Magazine (August 2019 edition) for Paper 1 of Eduqas GCSE Media Studies. Lessons on: magazine codes and conventions, media langauge, media contexts, representations of: men, ethnicity, women.

A lesson focusing on breaking down Neale’s Genre theory and analysing key sequences from Scream and American Sniper (although any film products could be used). This is a set theory for Eduqas A Level media and this lesson is taught in line with this particular specification, but it is relevant to all study of film!

Approx 6/7 lessons on the set magazine products for Component 2 Section B of A Level Media: codes and conventions, context, media language and representations. These lessons make use of the Eduqas resources and the textbooks. The Eduqas past and SAMS mark schemes can be adapted and used to mark the exam questions included in certain lessons. A fun, festive lesson which analyses the uss of media language in a range of print based Christmas adverts. Links nicely to any teaching of print based advertising and Eduqas GCSE Media Paper 1.
