This KS4 Writing Checklist is for the new AQA German GCSE 2026 specification to tick off what students have included in their 90/150 word writing task. There are two version, the long version is for lower students or students who are just starting out writing longer texts and might need a bit of prompting. It gives examples of what to include. The short version can be used for the higher students or students who worked with the long version and are familiar with the layout of the document. These Writing Checklists are ideal for use throughout KS4 to start preparing students for the writing part of the GCSE. It can also be used for peer review or individual written homework tasks. You could print it double sided with lines for students to write on the print out.

2 easy German Compound Noun Picture Matching Activities which could be part of Transition Days/Lessons or School Open Days for KS3. This is really simple for you to prepare! Enclosed are 2 different picture sheets, which can be printed (laminated if you wish) and cut out. Then there is a further choice as to which matching page you prefer for the students to figure out which words make the suggested compound nouns. There are also two A4 sheets which you may like to use as posters (they contain German Language Learning Hints). (Please note the majority of these words are not part of the new GCSE word lists and are more about some common and fun nouns, some of which are cognates.)

This Introduction to German Writing Sheet can be used for KS4 GCSE AQA, Edexcel, IGCSE, Educas or WJEC , private tutors or even A-level students after the summer break, as it is deliberately held generic. There are 3 versions, which are ideal to be printed and stuck in the front of the students exercise books or used as a reference page. One sheet is filled out completely, which might be used as an introduction in KS3, one sheet needs the German words filled in, which is a little trickier for beginners and one sheet where the English words are missing, which is aimed at the higher grade students. The PDF format is A4, however I have also included the same 3 sheets as A4 with 2 sheets on it making it A5 size in case the exercise books are smaller.

**German Grammar Case rules for beginners, explained in English ** Get a better understanding by looking at English vs. German sentences. In English, the subject is based on its position within the sentence whereas in German the sentences can be “jumbled” and still have the same meaning due to the complex case system and the declension of words. This document also includes a quick description of the 4 German cases. Useful for beginners to help get an understanding of the German grammar structures before learning the grammar in depth.
