A coloured answer key is provided to allow for the information to be easily checked by the students.
This can be printed off A4 or A3 - the back of the sheet then gets students to engage with applying the knowledge (AO3 ) by asking them to support / reject statements based on the evidence they use … this is deliberately open ended to allow for students to develop their abilities in justifying an argument.
A complete lesson that introduces Nigeria as a country that making rapid economic development. The lesson focuses on the key location factors and features of the country. Subject specific vocabulary is explicitly identified and the key locational features are identified. The lesson is fully resourced and includes a concise Knowledge Organiser. References are made to the Oxford Textbook and page references are used but access to the book is not vital but use of an Atlas map or on-line map of Nigeria would be useful if the book is not available. Although the lesson is specifically designed for the AQA course it can easily be used with other syllabi.
A complete lesson that uses Shell as an example of a TNC and the advantages and disadvantages to the country. Follows the AQA 9-1 Syllabus. The main aim of the lesson is to build up the skills needed to answer an evaluation question on the significance of Shell in the development of Nigeria. Links to videos are supported by clear summaries of the impacts, especially the environmental ones. A template is provided to help students tackle a 9 mark question. A model answer is also provided which prompts students to tackle alternative questions. Subject specific vocabulary is explicitly identified. A straightforward sequencing exercise is used to model an answer that can then be applied to the appropriate example later. The emphasis is on sequencing and this skill is explicitly practiced and then applied to an exam style question.
A complete, fully editable booklet that covers the tectonic hazards section of the AQA GCSE Syllabus. It covers 30 A4 pages and includes all the information required by the students as well as plenty of activities to test understanding. The booklet is ideal for remote learning as activities can be completed electronically by the students and then submitted online. Pages can be removed or adapted easily to suit your needs - it has been formatted for A4 printing and using Power-Point means that individual slides/pages can easily be altered without affecting the whole document. The two examples are Chile and Nepal, following the Oxford Textbook.
