No previous knowledge is assumed and the lesson starts with matching exercises based on the key definitions. The key terms are clearly outlined with activities to test they are understood. Video examples include temperate deciduous woodland and introduces the concepts of seasonal change and vegetation layers. A small scale ecosystem example is included to introduce the concepts of natural and human changes in ecosystems. A GCSE style scaffolded exam question and mark scheme is also included.
