Assembly/ PSHE/ Personal Development/ Careers session for KS4/ KS5 students, reflecting on last year and on setting targets for this year. Includes ppt, student sheet and comprehensive teacher notes as well as entry and exit quiz to measure progress. Considers why resolutions often fail and teaches students how to set meaningful and achievable targets and get into good academic habits.
This resource is designed to build student’s understanding of what Hate Crime is, why it happens and how to deal with it. As well as an introductory quiz on Forms to get students thinking (link in teaching notes) there is a Ppt presentation and headline discussion worksheet. The presentation ends with a plenary which can be adapted to use with smaller groups or for individuals to feedback on their understanding.
This is a presentation put together from the most up to date guidance and the UCAS webinar 30 March 2023. It outlines what should be included in each section and some of the information from questions asked at the webinar.
This resource includes a Ppt to explain Gatsby Benchmark 4 within the context of the 8 benchmarks and the recent updated benchmarks for implementation from September 2025. The presentation includes suggestions for how to implement the benchmark and underlines the responsibility of each department. In addition, I have put together a list of sources of posters and information along with suggested visits and experiences. This is a complete resource, which can be adapted to your needs. It includes a lesson plan, a link to Forms to duplicate a preliminary quiz to get students thinking, Ppt including opportunities for discussion (accompanying definition and scenarios worksheets also included). To check on understanding and prepare for follow-up there is also a printable Exit Slip.
We want to prepare our students to make responsible, considered choices in the future and this Earth Day lesson includes a presentation with discussion points, optional videos and lots of food for thought. The lesson is wholly adaptable and could easily be adapted to an environment lesson and discussion for anytime in the PHSE/Citizenship/Life Skills programme.

As part of this it is important that they understand the threats to the environment and how they can contribute now and as adults to exacting changes. The presentation looks at the vital role of pollinators such as bees and the threats they are undergoing as well as ways to make a change. This presentation discusses the issues around Hate Crime and Disability, looking at what constitutes a disability and providing discussion points to consider various aspects of the question, including the question of advocacy and how to report or support someone experiencing such crimes. This lesson discusses the importance of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development and includes opportunities for discussion and optional videos (timings included, so you can calculate what works for your time slot). The Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a general knowledge quiz to begin to consider the value of cultural diversity and how much is already present in students’ lives. The presentation includes further reading and finishes with a plenary to evaluate the discussion and understanding.
There is a whole world out there to see, but travel is expensive, so this lesson looks at ways of seeing the world without breaking the bank, using skills and training young people might pick up on the way and alerts them to looking out for opportunities while students.
This would go well as a follow-up to a presentation on Gap Years or a talk from a colleague about their travel experiences.

This is part of our Making Safe and Healthy Choices Series and goes well with the lesson on Friendship.
This assembly highlights this year’s theme of Anxiety, how it can affect anyone and everyone, but also looking at supporting and understanding those whose circumstances mean they are more vulnerable to feelings of anxiety. It looks at how you can cope with anxiety and where to seek help if you have ongoing problems with anxiety.
It will also be part of a bundle with other resources looking at situations where stress and anxiety are more prevalent, such as when facing disappointment, or in the face of exams, and areas of our lives we can work on to help improve our mental health, such as sleep, friendship and acts of kindness.
Osteoporosis Week comes at the beginning of June, but this could be part of PHSE at any juncture. The lesson discusses what the condition is and how it can affect the body, but also looks at preventative members and poses the question of why young people should be thinking of this/be aware now. In many ways it contributes to supporting a healthy diet and exercise regime, also highlighting the contributing factors of alcohol and smoking, eating disorders and steroid tablets. There is a quiz on Forms to introduce students to thinking about the topic and the link to duplicate is in the Teaching Notes.

It allows for discussion of current issues around misogyny and where they may stem from, while giving opportunities to consider the differences faced by men and women going out in terms of their own safety. It looks at the debate around making misogyny a Hate Crime but also where feelings of misogyny stem from and what could make a difference.
