'Roll and Cross' Subitising game

This simple game is great for supporting the learning of subitising. I get the children to roll a dice (a dot pattern dice) and cross out the numeral that matches the pattern. I make my own patterns to stick on a dice up to 10 to extend the subitising patterns for the more able children.

This simple game is great for supporting the learning of subitising. I get the children to roll a dice (either a dot pattern or number dice) and cross out the numeral or pattern that matches. The children can play this game in a group and this first to cross out all their numerals/patterns is the winner.

Subitising Bingo

This simple game is great for supporting the learning of subitising and number composition. I get the children to roll a number dice. They have to find the pattern that matches the numeral. Some are dice patterns and some are alternative dot patterns to demonstrate the composition of that number in a different way. I would print, trim and laminate these grids and get the children to use whiteboard pens to cross out the patterns. The first to cross out all their patterns shouts ‘Bingo’ and wins!
