Spring Hunt Checklist
A Spring scavenger hunt! Take your class on a walk around the school or local area and look out for these signs of Spring.

Signs of Spring Checklist
I take my children on a ‘Signs of Spring’ walk and get them to jot down things they can see for example daffodils, berries, birds etc. You could take them on clipboards or use it as a piece of writing to do when you get back from the hunt!

Bingo! ch, z, qu words
Bingo!
Read the words and get the children to find the picture and read the word and cross it out. The first to cross out all their words/pictures wins!
Words:
quack, chips, zip, queen, chat, zebra, chin, quick
Print and laminate these for a fun phonics game to support the learning of ch, z, qu.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Story Circles
Print and laminate these story circles to support children with recounting the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.

Cat in the Hat Hat template
This can be laminated and used as a fine motor bead board or printed as a worksheet to decorate.

Three Little Pigs Story Circles
Print, cut and laminate these to help the children recount the story of the ‘Three Little Pigs’

Subitising Bingo
This simple game is great for supporting the learning of subitising and number composition. I get the children to roll a number dice. They have to find the pattern that matches the numeral. Some are dice patterns and some are alternative dot patterns to demonstrate the composition of that number in a different way.
I would print, trim and laminate these grids and get the children to use whiteboard pens to cross out the patterns. The first to cross out all their patterns shouts ‘Bingo’ and wins!

Roll and Cross Subitising Game (to 6)
This simple game is great for supporting the learning of subitising. I get the children to roll a dice (either a dot pattern or number dice) and cross out the numeral or pattern that matches. The children can play this game in a group and this first to cross out all their numerals/patterns is the winner.

'Roll and Cross' Subitising game
This simple game is great for supporting the learning of subitising. I get the children to roll a dice (a dot pattern dice) and cross out the numeral that matches the pattern. I make my own patterns to stick on a dice up to 10 to extend the subitising patterns for the more able children.

Number Composition
Part - whole diagram for teaching number composition. You could use numicons/loose parts/numerals/pompoms to put in each circle to represent the whole and the two parts that make the whole eg 8 in the top circle and 4 and 4 in the two smaller circles.

Dinosaur Fossils
Get the children to create their own ‘Dinosaur Fossils’ in the playdough using different texture tools, cutters and shells.

Dinosaur Fact File
Use this template to get your children to write a ‘Fact File’ about their favourite dinosaur.
For my lowers I would get them to name the dinosaur or write a simple phrase or word answer and for my highers I would challenge them to write a few sentences.

Phonics Bingo Game
Phonics ‘Bingo’ game with words and visuals to support learning of sounds ‘sh’, ‘j’, ‘r’ and ‘v’.
Teacher sounds out the words and children find the word/picture on their board and cross it out. First to cross out all their pictures wins!

Dinosaur Fine Motor Bead Board
Print in A3 and laminate and get children to decorate/bead around the outlines of the dinosaurs as fine motor activity

Spot the words with ‘ay’, ‘igh’ and ‘ee’ in. We follow ‘Read, Write, Inc’ so these match the sounds taght in ‘Set 2’.
