It's Abandoned on Google Maps

(1)
Look for these spooky Abandoned locations on Google Maps and explore their wonder on Street View. Quality worksheets that prompt the student to use the navigation tools on Google Maps and explore a bit closer to answer the questions. There are a whole lot of man-made structures out there that have been left to rot or are waiting for a new life. Students look closely at the remains and complete some exercises to reflect on their investigations. 8 Locations in all are identified, plus another dozen or so that students can search for in their own time. Lonely fun park wiped out by Hurricane Katrina Desolate industrial island Massive empty car plant Rusting and bogged locomotives from another era Overgrown mill house in the middle of a busy town … and more Very original and includes an answer key. I’d be really disappointed if anyone is not happy with these packs, so if that’s you, please get back to me and your money will be very happily refunded. I’d really like some feedback too, so all comments most welcome.

34 pages of different font styles. Children always enjoy writing stylish headings for their projects and posters. These worksheets open up a variety of letter styles that students can practice. Children can trace over the letters to get a feel of shape and movement, and then rewrite the letter underneath. Some letters could even be better reproduced with calligraphy pens if you feel like adding some extra interest to the art of writing. A great activity filler and very calming fun for those times when your class need calming!

Fun with Malapropism

What's a Malaprop? "It is the mistaken use of a word in place of a similar-sounding one, often with unintentionally amusing effect, as in, for example, ā€œdance a flamingo ā€ (instead of flamenco )." This pack has more than 170 Malaprops that are fun, challenging and great for learning about correct English. Many of the Malaprops include common mistakes that English speakers make. Translating what the speaker was meaning needs some hard thinking in some cases. An answer key is provided at the end.

Maths with Google Maps

Maths with Google Maps

(1)
This is a pack of worksheets with Maths problems students can do on Google Maps. The problems cover a range of activities, but my class particularly liked the activity based on Disneyland where they had to zoom in on Street View as well as use the Earth function to mathematically calculate the number of car parks in a particular structure at Disneyland, and also calculate the commercial profitability of the car park. This is a multi-skilled pack for Middle School students and those who have bought my other packs over the years (thank you all!) you will know that each sheet is well laid out, nicely presented and encourages the student to work independently on each activity. As well as the Disneyland activity, the pack includes: - designing a road trip - searching for mathematical street names in a particular location(we found more than 10 names!) - researching odd mathematical locations - measuring and comparing distance - and more 10 pages of worksheets, PLUS an answer key.

Pranks, Hoaxes & Scams
malcombmalcomb

Pranks, Hoaxes & Scams

(2)
Great fun pack that investigates the types of Pranks, Hoaxes and Scams that are carried out in a variety of circumstances - on the web, in the classroom, in the news and so on. Students identify the differences and get an understanding that this is not a new thing - it all started with Jonathon Swift (Gulliver Travels). These pen and paper worksheets explore this type of humor and discusses the impact it might have on the victim. I really enjoy teaching about humor in the classroom and this is another of my packs that my classes have been working on. I also use the topic to cover off some ā€˜bullying’ issues and make sure that all students understand that a prank can often have a negative effect on someone else - and so needs to be avoided. The pack is also great for introducing the topic of email scams and how they can impact people who are not wary. 28 pages including a comprehensive Answer Key I’d be really disappointed if anyone is not happy with these packs, so if that’s you, please get back to me and your money will be very happily refunded. I’d really like some feedback too, so all comments most welcome.
