The purpose of this lesson is for the students to look at the five victims of Jack the Ripper and identify similarities between the victims. They then have to act as detectives and try to spot patterns in Jack’s behaviour to try to prevent future murders. If you like this lesson then please leave a review.

This lesson looks at the German plan to win WW1 and the reasons for its failure. It also covers the timeline to war, and the MAIN causes of WW1. The students will learn about the Schliffen plan, how it was supposed to work and what it tells us about Germany. They will also analyse why it failed and suggest how it could have been improved. An interesting and challenging lesson.

This is a really interesting and well resourced lesson that investigates the Sahara desert and the challenges of living life in such a hostile environment, This lesson can be used as a one off (stand alone) or as part of a whole unit (such as my Fantastic Places unit, also available in my shop). A really interesting lesson that forces the students to use their imaginations, decision making and empathy.

This lesson has been observed numerous times and has always been rated as outstanding, It is focused on the consequences of the Black Death and looks at how it changed Britain in many different areas. The students use sources in a carousel and collect the information to learn what the positive and negative changes were for the people of Britain. A well made and throught provoking lesson.

This lessons looks at the Greater and Lesser Jihad and explores the Muslim attitude to war. The pupils really enjoyed this lesson and felt that they understood this topic much more clearly after this lesson. It helps pupils to understand many of the misconceptions surrounding Jihad, and Islam in general and helps them to understand the positive aspects of Islamic attitdues to violence and war. An interesting and fun lesson that challenges what the pupils may have previously believed. Originally created for KS4 RS, it can easily be adapted for KS3 or KS5.

An interesting lesson that looks at the different causes of war and conflict. This is a useful lesson as it helps students to consider the different causes and assess how justifed most wars really are. It looks at why individuals go to war, and contrasts this as to why countries go to war. It also looks at a recent case study (Syria). It asks the students to think about what war is really like, why does war still exist and what can we do to end war.

This is a clever lesson where the students are introduced to human rights and have to imagine a word where the students take place in a market place activity to buy and sell human rights. This was made for a citizenship lesson but could easily work in a geography lesson, or humanities or RS. A fun but informative (and important) lesson,

This is an essential lesson for every KS3 student! An excellent lesson that teaches the students where to find many of the key features of the world (oceans, continents, mountain ranges etc.) as well as how to accurately describe their location. A useful lesson especially for students who think Africa is a country!

This is a fantastic lesson that introduces Mormonism and asks the question ‘Is Mormonism a real religion?’ The lesson features several activities (and a number from the ‘Book of Mormon’ musical!) It includes key teachings from mormonism, facts and myths about the faith and gets to students to research some of the key features of the religion for a quick test at the end. An enjoyable, fast paced, challenging lesson that has been widely praised in observations. “I belieeeeeeve… that I’ll get my own planet!” NOTE - All the resources are contained in the PowerPoint. The worksheets are on the final few slides.

This assembly was originally desgined to introduce changes to the school rules, but it can be easily adapted to look at school rules or laws in society. It would also be useful to use as tutor time activity.

This is an excellent assembly to get the students to think about the power of gossip and the importance of communicating effectively. It uses several examples to make the point and features intro and exit music (and a clip featuring advice from Socrates) An excellent one off assembly or an assembly to respond to gossip around school.

This is an assembly to explain the gender pay gap in society today. -It covers why there is a pay gap -What are the causes of the gap -How equal the UK is compared to other countries -What we can do to fix the pay gap -And it investigates Iceland (the most equal county in the world) The assembly finishes by getting the students to think about the gift of education and what they can do to make the UK a fairer society. The assembly should take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete and is always very popular. This is an outstanding and inspirational assembly.

This lesson gets the students to investigate life in the Warsaw Ghetto in WW2 through a number of Primary and Secondary Sources. It tests the students source skills and also builds on their knowledge of the Holocaust and WW2. This is a really useful lesson if you want the students to work on their source analysis skills. It is both a powerful and a challenging lesson.

The Holy Trinity can be a difficult concept to understand (especially if you are not a Christian). This lesson introduces the Holy Trinity in a simple and straight forward way. It also links into Christian beliefs and how it helps to explain the nature of God working in the world today. This can be a complex topic, so this allows the pupils to access the information in a relatable way that draw on logical analogies and their own experiences. A useful topic that can be adapted for use at KS2, 3 or 4.

This lesson looks at how soldiers expressed them selves on the front line by looking at several examples of art in war. Primarily the pupils will be asked to analyse famous drawings, painting and poems of WW1 to see what they can learn. The they will have a choice of making a drawing/painting or a poem of their own to show what they have learned. This lesson helps the students to develop empathy and encourages literacy through creative writing. An excellent lesson.

This lesson looks at the population of Africa and asks the question ‘why is the population growing so fast?’ It is a useful lesson for a unit on population or on Africa. It looks at numerous factors that contribute to population and uses the case study of Nigeria (both rural and urban) to explore these themes. A terrific (and terrifying!) lesson,

This is a really interesting lesson that introduces the geography of Africa and can be used in a variety of different ways. This can be used as a stand alone lesson, as part of a SoW on Africa/inequality/development or as part of project on Africa. This lesson introduces the physical landscape of Africa and encourages the pupils to learn the key features of the great continent. A clever and important lesson.
