Two reading comprehensions for advanced students. Can be used to prepare for final assessments and grade level testing. Includes: 2 x reading comprehensions covering different styles and genres. Each comprehension contains 12 questions. Suitable for advanced classes or students needing stretch and challenge.

A full PowerPoint which is aimed to be used over 4 weeks approximately. Each section contains a different focus regarding the tournament. There are 7 exercises given. Each one requires the students to research and complete a written task. Tasks included are fact files, persuasive speeches, scripts for commentary, articles and blog posts. Also contained are two reading comprehensions. Please note. The powerpoint is focused on Euro 2024. It does not contain step by step guides for each written piece.

A set of differentiated articles used for a simple task - locate the persuasive techniques throughout. You can print on the same page and cut them out for your class. The lower level pieces are shorted and contain bold text which may suit EAL learners.

A reading comprehension tailored towards medium/high level students who have a specific interest in football. The comprehension contains five questions which become more difficult as it progresses. This can be used to try and get reluctant readers who are interested in the sport to take part.

A PowerPoint which examines the language devices used in Wordsworths poem. It contains a break down of each technique as well as five discussion questions for the students to unpack.

An EAL resource to help students understand key terms in their own language (English to Arabic, Russian and Spanish).

A worksheet in which students take a sentence and follow a number of questions to analyse the details of language. I have chosen this method to practice the skills as it breaks the work into bite size chunks for the student. In this way the students don’t feel overwhelmed by looking at a large body of text.

A reading comprehension based around Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It contains 12 complex questions for higher ability students to complete. Please note this is difficult and can prove challenging for students. This can be used for NGRT or GL prep as well as preparing for formal examines which test comprehension skills.

This resources breaks down the potential global concepts that may appear in the paper. It also gives ideas for what topics are possible within these concepts as well as 15 key terms that are useful.

A worksheet that is perfect for practicing poetic techniques with a class. The students receive two images and must complete a list of challenges which are based around poetic techniques. By doing so they are required to create poetic language sentences based on the images.

This is a detailed breakdown of each section of Freytags Pyramid that I use each year either to introduce or refresh the students on this story layout. You can simply embed the lessons where you see fit to help the students when analysing literature or writing creatively. The lessons contain research topics or discussion points to help the students see the format in every day materials they view. Six lessons of one hour (approx.) in length.
