An instant introduction to the scope of the Francophone world, promoting French as a living language, spoken widely across the world, and featuring in the everyday life of the learning environment. There are countries or regions where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Viet Nam. Each flashcards / poster shows the continent, country and capital city in French, and its national flag. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the word wall definitely helps them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones. The posters feature the definite article, and this helps to embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain. Print on card stock and / or laminate them if possible, as they display much more effectively, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and remain in excellent condition for years. It is illegal to copy, rewrite, amend, share or distribute outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. School / departmental licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. This general knowledge quiz focuses on Europe. Students can broaden and develop their knowledge of Europe in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The quizzes work well as a whole-group team quiz, and are also perfect for pair or small-group activities. The quizzes are for more senior students, who have a more developed understanding, knowledge and awareness of the world. Some responses will be generally well-known to students, others less so, as the questions range from basic general knowledge to more specialized factual knowledge. This ensures that the activity is equally about reflecting on what students know, as it is about what they can learn. In this way, the quizzes aim not only to consolidate existing knowledge, but also to enable students to learn more about Europe. The questions and answers also provide a comprehensive framework for further exploration of Europe, which both broadens and enriches the learning experience. It’s useful to give students several opportunities over the school year to play the quizzes. Screen a clear map of Europe, to ensure that students can visualize it in its entirety, the location of individual countries within it, and in relation to each other. This provides an important learning context for students. The quiz opens with general questions about Europe, and then moves on to questions about a range of individual European countries. There are 80 questions across two challenges: = Challenge 1 56 multiple-choice questions, with four response options to choose from. The correct response is in capital letters. = Challenge 2 24 questions in TRUE / FALSE format. Where the answer is false, students should additionally give the correct response. Some of these questions align with the topics / themes in Challenge 1, but some address entirely different ones. It’s a good idea to work with this challenge after Challenge 1, as it maximises opportunity for learning. The questions address and topics such as: music and the Arts; daily life; famous figures; geography; history; landmarks; language and linguistics; literature; politics; science; social history; society This is the General Knowledge Europe Quiz edition of our European Day of Languages Europe Quiz #1 - please ensure you haven’t already purchased that edition. A whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in French. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents, such as the silent x on the plural of cheval : chevaux, as this is really useful at consolidating accurate French pronunciation. There are 25 animals featured in the game: bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle All the animals may not be in your immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply learning or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practising particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too. The images are essentially visual prompts and clues, helping students infer meaning from context. The longer and more complex sentences really help students focus on reading out loud accurately, and think more carefully about language, and how to pronounce it correctly. There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time, and a successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary. I have, who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in Spanish. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - it’s useful to point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents , such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word. There are 25 animals featured in the game: bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle All the animals may not be in your immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply practising or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practising particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too. There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary. Laminate the cards if you can: they’re far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years, so you’ll be able to use them over and over again.
