Into Film has partnered with BBC Learning to produce a new resource themed around the Ten Pieces project, which aims to inspire a love of classic musical in primary school pupils. The Ten Pieces project invites children to listen to ten pieces of classical music and to creatively respond to them. This extensive resource is aimed at KS1 and KS2 (or equivalent) Primary pupils, and consists of an in-depth look at the use of three of the Ten Pieces in films, including Fantasia and Johnny English Reborn, with activity sheets, instructional videos, case studies and teachers' notes provided. Designed to be used with Edward Scissorhands, this resource, aimed at students aged 11-14, provides simple-to-use activities that are a fun way to start a film club. The new Netflix four-part drama Adolescence, now available for secondary schools to view for free* with Into Film+, has had an instant cultural impact, intelligently driving the conversation around the rise of misogyny, dangerous online sub-groups and social responsibility. This resource includes a link to register and watch the series on Into Film + as well as a breakdown of some of the important themes and language used in the series. *Screenings for an entertainment or extra-curricular purpose require a PVS (Public Video Screening) Licence from Filmbankmedia. Celebrating the ancient art of storytelling, and fairy tales that have inspired great films, these two new resources are designed to support literacy for Key Stage 1. During National Storytelling Week explore some of the greatest stories in celebrated children’s books from the classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to the action-packed Stormbreaker. Directors have adapted novels into films and have made them more accessible to reluctant readers due to the all-inclusive nature of the medium of film. Into Film has partnered with the National Association for Teaching English (NATE) to produce a new resource centred around Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, and the 1999 film adaptation starring Patrick Stewart as Ebeneezer Scrooge. The resource also contains generic teaching approaches that can be applied across all 19th century texts. This resource explores what it means to be part of the Commonwealth, offering insights into the culture and identity of Commonwealth countries and reflecting on life in the UK and the activities centre on four carefully chosen films from across the Commonwealth: The First Grader; Mandela – Long Walk to Freedom; Tracks and He Named Me Malala. Using film as the stimulus, and set in modern-day scientific contexts, this series of resources can be used in the classroom to help develop students' scientific literacy. They help students to apply their scientific knowledge and skills to issues in the modern world.
