This package is for teachers delivering the 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 3, Health and Wellbeing. Questions related to these topics are 1 and 2 marks on the exam paper so focus on raising literacy levels throughout your lessons.
For teachers following my C3 SoW, this is for week 7.
This is suggested practical teaching week.
There is one presentations of 70 slides and a worksheet for notes covering different health indicators. There are inbedded videos pause points, exam multiple choice questions and class discussion point . . There is guidance for note taking and applied case study tasks. All resources are adaptable to meet you needs.
There are two homework task sheets based on exam answers for Level 1 and Level 2.

Interpretation of physiological data according to published guidelines:
o resting heart rate (pulse) – normal range 60 to 100 bpm
o heart rate (pulse) recovery after exercise – the heart’s ability to return to normal

A 21 page booklet covering the content of the BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care Unit 5 Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs content for Learning AIm B; B1 and B2. It is a word document which can be added to or altered to suit your teaching style. The booklet helps students to be organised with their notes and keep information together and has been updated to reflect the new case studies from Pearson’s November 2018.

This could be used as a class exercise, set as homework or additional stretch and challenge ie. how many can you do, how many can they get right
The case studies are all adaptable and can be simplified for Level 1 students

This covers what the content for B1. Life Events; Health & Wellbeing and B2. Support that goes with the life events and the characteristic trait self-esteem and outlook
If you are following my SoW 2024-2025, this is Week 14, this now relates to PSA Task 3a (Life Event PIES) and 3b (Support) . There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There are activities aimed at building up student notes to have with them in the PSA and capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. There is the continued literacy support with useful vocabulary, again and a case study example PIES.
There’s a 39 slide presentation introducing life events to get students thinking to start with.
All the spec content relates to Life Event impacting on a person experiencing a point from the Health & Wellbeing category and suitable support. There is also points that guides students to considers personality impacting on coping strategies. This detail is included in the 40 slide presentation which has pause points for student contribution and breaks to complete their notes table which they can refer to in the actual PSA. There is homework worksheets for both Level 1 and Level 2 learners.

There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There is literacy support and worksheets to capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment.
All the spec content relates to PIES development with the first presentation which is 32 slides covering all the A2.Emotional content. There is an A3 summary sheet for students notes and reference when completing the PSA Task 2. The second presentation is 26 slides and covers the below content of the A2.Social Factors. There is a third presentation which aims to raise literacy levels and gives students vocabulary prompts to enable students to access higher grades when writing up their PIES in the assessment work.

If you are following my SoW 2024-2025, this is Week 11, this now relates to PSA Task 2. There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There is an activity to summarise learning and two task using the PEE exam answering technique to support the application of a case study to a cultural factor case study situation.
There is a 32 slide PIES development presentation which is applied to the spec range of cultural factors. There are several activities within the presentation to keep students engaged and pause points for contributions. The activities summarise points that will be easier to refer to in their PSA in January. With this in mind the homework tasks for both level 1 and level 2 students will build up understanding and again give students their own work/notes which can be with them when they are in their controlled assessment hours for Task 2.
