This resource includes one template and one complete Year 2 common misconception words board game for up to 4 players. It’s A3. I’ve been struggling to engage my Year 3 class into learning their tricky words so came up with this. When a child’s playing piece lands on the circle they must write word in a sentence. Feel free to edit the words to suit your class. Hope this helps.

Hi, This Interactive white board activity allows your children to spot the odd sounding word out and play ‘Into the black hole’…a game that sees the child dragging the pseudonym (alien word) into the black hole and into oblivion. The real words stay in front of the black hole and the alien disappear behind the center of the hole. The game is accompanied by a worksheet that can be used in conjunction with the IWB or without. The resource is editable so feel free to tinker to suit the sound and needs of your class. In most slides you can edit the words. The children love to be active during Phonic sessions. This activity can be adapted to any occasion/activity. For example you could use it as a dart/arrow board or roll an object and see what word it lands on. I have used it in trays or baskets and with many items that the children roll , e.g pebbles, die, small cubes, spinning tops to name a few. This 1 more/less 10more/less hunt can be differentiated many ways. I have already differentiated it 5 ways for my own class and printed out the sheets on different coloured paper for each group to find. Once the children have found the coloured shape that they've been given they must solve 1 more/less or 10 more less depending on their ability.
