A unit of work that could last a term for years 5 or 6 based around the 5 Pillars of Islam. Included are learning intentions, success criteria, suggested teaching points and ideas for activities. Lots of scope for teaching and learning through AT1 and AT2.

Four weeks planning for the book Street Child. Works well when combined with the Victorians topic. Includes starters, main input, activity ideas, key questions and plenaries.

Includes ideas of text types to plan for in each key stage and ideas for activities and making English fun.

This is a great resource if you are leading any training on whole class reading. It gives you ideas about how to teach the skills for reading and how to set up comprehension questions for a text based on different a different skill each day. It also includes resource ideas, a break-down of each day and how to build in reading for pleasure.

Each scheme of work has 3-5 lessons and they are all based around different big questions: Year 1 - Why is Christmas important to Christians? Year 2 - What are the Christian symbols of Christmas? Year 3 - Why are presents given at Christmas and what would Jesus think? Year 4 - How can artists help us to understand Christmas? Year 5 - Why is light an important sign at Christmas? Year 6 - What do the Gospels say about the birth of Jesus? Each unit builds upon the last, so the children build up the skills through AT1 and AT2 all the way to year 6 in which they are analysing the different Gospels. There are LIs, main input and main activities for each lesson.

This is a 3 lesson unit based around religious scripture. Children explore scripture from different religious such as the 10 Commandments and the 5 precepts of Buddhism and explore how these rules help religious people to live. They then create their own precepts and words of wisdom from what they have learnt. There is also opportunity for children to research the lives of religious people such as Gandhi and Martin Luther King, and explore how they put their beliefs into action.

A unit of art - 3/4 lessons long based around the title ‘Who I am.’ Children learn how to sketch self-portraits using photos of themselves; practice printing using different medium and work on their colour mixing and pairing skills. This culminates in a multi-media piece whereby they use all of their skills to create a picture of themselves with a layered background of 2 tone colours and prints with their self-portrait. This links well to PSHE and to the book Wonder.

This a a year 5 character description of Virgo to link in with the topic Ancient Greece. It was written using the book ‘Who let the Gods out’ as a stimulus and is a greater depth example. It is a Wanted Poster for Virgo. It could be used as what a good one looks like.
