Researching, designing and creating a Google Doodle advert for an Inspirational Woman / figure. The scheme is structured as a mini GCSE project, encouraging students to work in their chosen style and generate their own ideas. The process covers research, planning, refinement, experimentation and completing a final outcome.

Pre made net worksheet for students to make and decorate a Christmas Market stall. Print onto brown paper for full effect. Can be used as a mini gift box or tree ornament once made and complete.

A project exploring Matisse’s works and his cut out style. Students link his technique to the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic games, creating a contemporary minimal sports poster. Extending the technique, students progress onto the work of Bernardo Henning, who has influences of Matisse’s shapes and mark making within his designs. The project can be completed by hand, or digitally using Photoshop.

Basic tutorial showing how to download the Sketchbook App for iPads. From here, students can produce digital drawings and illustrations.

Worksheet or starter activity slide encouraging discussion and analysis of Jonathan Yeo’s King Charles portrait. Lots of potential questions for students to consider, or a good research activity to discover existing opinion on the piece. Students may answer all or some of the work, and could represent their findings in a more visually engaging format.

Worksheet (one portrait, one landscape) instructing students to research into traditional East Asian cultural masks and their significance and meanings. Students are to find examples from 6 countries, add a picture example and then make notes about why the masks are of importance. A good activity to begin a mask related project and encourage independent research in a visual manner.

The package includes and editable PowerPoint and individual worksheets to print and present in sketchbooks. The project focuses on currency initially but allows students to build towards a portraiture final outcome. Examples of Year 7 work to show outcomes and sketchbook layout.

Frida Kahlo artist research sheet, looking at the illustrator Liz Clements as an aid to researching into Kahlo’s life and story. Tattoos have been added in the style of Clements, which students will then need to research into and show understanding of what the symbols may represent. Extension to create a Liz Clements illustration, making Kahlo a more modern figure.

Worksheet guiding students through analysis of ‘A Bigger Splash’. Evaluating colour and impact, as well as personal views of the painting. Students are then asked to create a moodboard of contemporary paintings which have been inspired by Hockney’s use of colour and subject matter. Initial research to begin minimal landscape paintings.
