Easy to follow lesson on terror in Nazi Germany. The video clips are embedded in the presentation but are also attached incase of any issues with these. Students are introduced to the methods of terror used by the nazis and they have to determine which method was most effective. Written ask reviews knowledge and requires class to write a secret message about how the Nazis are using terror and its consequences. A 28 page student/ teacher booklet on the British Empire. The booklet contains a range of student-led resources on many aspects of the British empire, for example a never heard the word task, key word quiz, mapping out the British empire between 1750-1901, decision-making tasks about how the British empire impacted the world (with extended response questions which develop examination and writing skills, the British empire in India (with some fun and creative activities, such as creating a stamp, categorising & prioritising tasks and a range of source based tasks. The booklet amounts to around 6 -7 one hour lessons and is ideal for independent homework, cover lessons or can be used to teach a complete unit of work on the British empire.

EStudents analyse a range of sources and score these based on how useful medieval medicine was before responding to an extended response question which develops examination skills. Literacy support provided. Clear instructions and ready to teach.

Easy to follow lesson. Students have to organise information about the changes onto a graph before writing up speech bubbles for different types of women to explain how much their life changed and why it did/ did not change. Exam style question to finish.

Easy to follow lesson. Card sort activity (students group the cards and decide on most important factors). Main task is a newspaper article explaining why it occurred and what could have been done to avoid the event. Differentiated material provided as well as literacy support.

The last lesson in our English Civil War Unit of Work. The lesson looks at different interpretations of King Charles II which students weigh up against a Horrible Histories sketch. Having done this the students write a letter to the creators of Horrible Histories to explain how the sketch could be developed. Literacy support and differentiated resources included. Kings and Queens of Britain 1066 - present day (44 A4 posters). Ideal for a classroom display. I have these laminated and have created a timeline around my classroom. Each poster contains a blurb and some literacy support so students can learn some new words. Ideal for new teachers who are looking to jazz up their classrooms!

This lesson works well when studying the Holocaust or Nazi Germany. Students watch a clip from the film Europa Europa (in German). They are required to guess the nature of the sketch before re-watching in English. Following this they are shown a school timetable (showing subjects studied etc). Students need to construct a role play discussing the nature of their education (literacy support included in PowerPoint). The film An Education for Death is also included with related activities.

Students start by adding detail to a never heard the word grid which cover the unit. They then start to collect evidence to show how the Nazis influenced people's lives. They must decide how this would impact Jewish people living in Germany by matching their evidence to a range of categories. This is followed by a postcard activity whereby students write to a pen friend to outline how and why their lives are changing. Literacy support provided as well as step by step instructions and differentiated resources.

A lesson on King John. Students watch the walt Disney sketch on King John and record their thoughts about how he is portrayed. They then analyse a range of source and record their data whilst scoring each source out of 10 in terms of how good or bad the King was. The main activity is writing a letter to walt disney. In the letter they must explain how the sketch could be improved to give a more accurate interpretation of king john. Differentiated materials, literacy support and all resources included.

Easy to follow lesson and all video links are embedded into the powerpoint. Students watch a short clip from Richard III and note down his characteristics/ adjectives. They then watch the clip from channel 4 news ‘King in the Car Park’ and discuss why this event is so significant. The students are then introduced to a range of sources some of which support shakespeare’s view and some which challenge it. They record their findings in a table before completing a Twitter conversation with William Shakespeare (focusing on supporting views with the evidence) which develop exam skills.

Easy to follow lesson on Queen Elizabeth. Students eventually make a judgement about Queen Elizabeth through, portrait analysis, card sort and discussions. Main activity requires class to create their own annotated portrait which summarises their decision. Literacy support/ differentiated materials provided.

A lesson on the Wars of the Roses. Starter requires the students to extract information and create a factfile (sentence stems included to help less able). This task gives the class a bit of background e.g. how the conflict started. Task 2 introduces the class to the key events (cards) and they have to place these events on a graph to show which house was winning. Once this has been discussed and the groups are happy with their order there are a series of questions which can be answered by extracting evidence from the graph (literacy support is provided on the presentation). Plenary requires students to form an opinion as to which house deserved the crown and they use evidence to support their opinion. (Note: the graph needs to be printed onto A3 paper).

Students assess the changes that took place under Cromwell by completing a continuum line activity before responding to a how far style question. As always there are clear step by step instructions.

Students analyse four key factors that led to the successful Norman invasion. Students work through a card sort (categorising), diamond 9 (prioritising) and identifying links between the evidence before writing up their findings in a Facebook style response. There are plenty of opportunities to develop examination skills too. As always clear step by step instructions included.

A concise 6 page A4 revision and teaching guide for the first unit of the Edexcel 9-1 Weimar and Nazi Germany specification (The Weimar Republic 1918-29). This comes with key vocabulary, an overview of the period, exam info on each sub topic, quick fire revision tasks, such as multiple choice questions, a student assessment grid and exam question examples and advice/ tips and skills. The is also a quick fire test, which can be used as a starter or a plenary or simply included in the booklet. This is perfect to give to each student either before or after the unit.
