Year 12 Maths Entry Assessment
mrsmorgan1mrsmorgan1

Year 12 Maths Entry Assessment

(13)
This assessment tests basic pre-requisite maths skills on entry to A level. It's editable so if you like the format but don't like the questions, feel free to change them! The idea is to give this 15 minute test in the first maths lesson of Year 12 in order to identify any students who need immediate intervention. The intervention sessions can then be tailored to specific skills eg a session on expanding brackets, and a separate session on solving equations. This assessment is print-friendly (one side of A4) and quick to mark. Teachers can complete the mini-feedback sheet for each student and staple it to their assessment, with details of upcoming intervention sessions.
Higher GCSE Ratio Approaches

Higher GCSE Ratio Approaches

(32)
A couple of years ago I wrote a post about different approaches for solving more advanced ratio problems at Higher GCSE. I’ve now made a lesson to accompany this post. This was designed for a Year 11 double lesson, though it might need longer. It features two approaches: equivalent fractions with algebra, plus the scaling method. These are designed with AQA ratio GCSE questions in mind. See the notes under each slide for full sources. I have provided a PDF version in case font/formatting is lost in PowerPoint, but the PowerPoint is better because it has animations and notes.
Foundation Maths GCSE Revision Workouts

Foundation Maths GCSE Revision Workouts

(15)
Two ‘print budget friendly’ revision activities for Foundation GCSE. Students work through the questions on the sheet to revise facts and procedures for a range of topics. These resources can be printed on a single side of A4 (or A3 if you prefer). If you find any errors please let me know (@mathsjem). Higher versions here: /teaching-resource/higher-gcse-revision-workouts-11630772
GCSE Calculator Revision Mats Set 3: Higher and Foundation

GCSE Calculator Revision Mats Set 3: Higher and Foundation

(14)
These resources are for mixed-topic calculator GCSE revision. This is my third set of calculator revision mats, the first set is here: /teaching-resource/gcse-calculator-revision-mats-higher-and-foundation-12119735 and the second set is here: /teaching-resource/gcse-calculator-revision-mats-set-2-higher-and-foundation-12128297. There are four levels: Foundation is aimed at students working at Grades 1 - 3 Foundation Plus is aimed students working at Grades 3 - 5 Higher is aimed at students working at Grades 4 - 6 Higher Plus is aimed at students working at Grades 6 - 9. I printed onto two sheets of A3 (stapled) but they would work on A4 too. Answers are provided. Editable versions are provided in case you want to change some questions to suit the level of your students. Most of the questions were taken from the excellent CIMT resources. Hope these are helpful. If you spot an error please let me know (@mathsjem).
Year 7 Warm Up Booklet

Year 7 Warm Up Booklet

(7)
I made this booklet for Autumn 1 2020 because I’ll be moving classrooms between each lesson. To ensure students can get started as soon as I arrive (or before I arrive!) I will hand out these warm up booklets at the start of the half-term. The booklet contains 24 lessons’ worth of warm up questions. They are all retrieval of learning from Years 1 - 6. I have used SATs questions. This booklet is editable so you can adapt it for your class. I have included answers (sorry about the quality of the scanning) but instead of using these answers, it would be better to go through the answers using a blank booklet and a visualiser.
Exploring Graphs with Desmos

Exploring Graphs with Desmos

(10)
Desmos is very user-friendly. After a short demonstration on the IWB, pupils are able to spend a whole lesson on a computer or tablet using Desmos to explore graph types and simple transformations. I used this worksheet with Year 9 - there's enough here for two lessons.
Binomial hypothesis testing booklet for AS Maths

Binomial hypothesis testing booklet for AS Maths

(1)
This booklet is designed for the teaching of Binomial hypothesis testing at AS level maths (Edexcel). It takes a very structured approach, attempting to make a complex multi-step procedure accessible to all. There are spaces for writing definitions, writing worked examples, practising procedures and doing exam questions. Most of the questions are not written by myself - the main sources are the Pearson textbook, Edexcel exam papers and madasmaths. Please let me know if you find any errors. The booklet needs around four to five hours of teaching time to be completed thoroughly.

Algebra Form Time Revision for Foundation GCSE

Algebra Form Time Revision for Foundation GCSE

(21)
I was asked to create a PowerPoint to accompany this resource /teaching-resource/sk18maths-revision-booklets-foundation-key-skills-11891525 by @SK18Maths. I adapted his algebra booklet slightly and created an accompanying PowerPoint that is designed to be used in form time. These form time interventions are only 20-25 minutes long so the idea is that in each form time the teacher briefly reviews a topic using the slides and then pupils complete one page in the booklet. Full instructions are in the PowerPoint. Of course this PowerPoint and booklet could easily used in longer revision sessions by covering multiple topics in one session.
