A series of lessons attached that explore ‘Simon Lee: The Old Hunstman.’ Lessons include: inference skills comparing perspectives with model answers do now activities exploration of moral and links to the corona virus pandemic and random acts of kindness article writing

A knowledge booklet designed for students to use as they study Romeo and Juliet in class. Suitable for KS3 and KS4 GCSE students. Lessons for all scenes and scaffolded activities for students who may need it. All lessons include a ‘do now’ activity that encourages knowledge retention and provide key term definitions to assist reading of scenes. Context is embedded and advanced reading around literary heritage is also provided. Lessons provide opportunity for students to develop and practice: language/structure analysis Narrative writing Writing about view points and perspectives evaluation skills SPaG GCSE literature skills academic writing including creating introductions

The first lesson models to students The second lesson is a ‘we do’ lesson where, with teacher support, students structure an answer to a new Macbeth question. Two templates for students to complete once they have received their marked mock paper. The template provides space for students to record their mark for each question and review their performance. The 2017 grade boundary is also provided. Students identify areas of strength and weakness and use the areas of weakness as a starting point for revision. The idea is that students will complete a pupil response task on the question that they did less well on. Students are given time to revise before completing the pupil response. The aim is that in their response the mark for the question will improve. Activities make links to: An Inspector Calls Romeo and Juliet Each activity takes a theme that is evident in a particular poem and encourages students to make connections with the same theme in other texts that have been studied.

A medium term plan (scheme of work) for Of Mice and Men to be taught at KS3. This medium term plan signposts opportunities to embed skills for the new specification GCSE 9-1 skills.
