I've used these resources to create a "History of the World" display and a giant "Lego Timeline". All you need is some backing paper and ideally a world map. These materials were used to make the display shown in the photograph assigned to my TES shop. Images acquired through a search engine filtered to "labelled for re-use".

Tutor/Form time activty: Desert Island

(3)
A quick 20-30 minute activity which encourages students to solve problems that may occur on a desert island. Students should be organised into groups of around 6 and given a piece of sugar paper to write down their ideas. You should set the scene and get them imagine the island. Comments are appreciated.

Useful guide to demonstrate some methods of paragraph structure and general tips to improve writing. I have used this from Year 6 through to GCSE. The menu idea makes it very easy to follow. I print these out and give them to students like a menu during extending writing. I have also blown these up to A3 for display. Comments are appreciated. Images are taken from Microsoft Office Clip-Art collections and used in line with MS policy.

How democratic was the UK/Britain in the 1800s? Two hour long lessons!

(0)
In this lesson students begin to explore people's rights, these two lessons were designed to support a new topic on campaigning for rights. In the first lesson students are encouraged to explore the nature of democracy in Britain during the 1800s. In the second lesson students look at who could and couldn't vote using a series of characters. A video clip about human rights through time is embedded. The first lesson will require the red SHP textbook "Re-discovering Britain 1500-1750" page 86 for the main task. Otherwise all required sheets are attached. Comments are appreciated.

Life in Nazi Germany Revision Tarsia Puzzle

(2)
This Tarsia puzzle covers the theme of the Life in Nazi Germany. It was specifically designed for GCSE revision and would be suitable for many of the exam boards. Great for revision and intervention sessions. A Tarsia puzzle requires students to match up sides of triangles to form a hexagonal shape. They are brilliant for revision and get students to think hard. I use these at the starts of ends of lessons and they can take 10-20 minutes depending on your class's confidence in the material. All materials are provided here including student instructions, student puzzle pieces and teacher answers. All images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for re-use. Enjoy!

What made 9/11 so shocking?

There aren’t many September 11th lessons out there so here’s one! Now updated to include newer sliders and embedded clip. The main objective is for students to gauge how ‘complete’ a BBC news clip is. The PowerPoint includes task descriptions but please ask if you can’t follow the lesson. The bottom of the posters should be folded up so that you can reveal the answers! You choose the plenary. If you know of a short clip which was produced a little after the event that would be useful. Any comments are appreciated! :-) Images acquired through a search engine filtered to “labelled for reuse” BBC own the copyright to the clip in the link. I’ve been observed in this lesson and graded as outstanding so hopefully this works for you too. (911, 9-11)
