Writing Sentences Workbook 1 has been designed to enable children to practise writing sentences appropriately using the correct punctuation, spacing and letter formation. Each page consists of a sentence that is to be copied 3 times and space for illustrating the sentence. The sentences are mainly made up of short vowel words (e.g cat, run, pet, sand), making them appropriate for the reading level of 5 year olds.
This workbook is also valuable for implementing whole class shared writing lessons. During the teaching session, the teacher discusses the sentence construction with the children – number of words, spelling, punctuation, spacing, meaning and letter formation. The children follow up the teaching by copying the sentence appropriately 3 times. The sentence is then illustrated to show understanding of its meaning.
Writing Sentences Workbook 1 can also be used as an independent writing task for a language work programme.
